well at the end of those videos, i lost power to the wheels and thought i stripped the gear box with the hornet 18t pinion i had in it.
well 2 years later i finally decided to tear into the truck, and here i am today. i pulled one wheel and found the HPI hex adapter melted. the gear box still feels crisp and no problems inside.

Not sure why you have the original wheel adapter on the axle if you are running the HPI wheel? Shouldn't you be running a hex adapter or something? Just curious about the setup...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
there is a little blob of melted plastic that used to be one of these HPI adapters. it goes between the original lunchbox wheel hub and the new wheels. im not too sure what caused it cause the wheel nut was tight the whole time

Did you see any wear on that HPI adapter? Probably not fitting too well to begin with and it just kept wearing... (between the adapter and the wheel)
Luckily you are just a new wheel away from getting it back running!

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I made this metal thingy, it made the lunchbox handle really well... shocks are in orginal postition and able to re-use the orginal shocks.... *bounce bounce bounce* and it handled better than shocks onto fx10's arm mount....
I used 15wide x30 long mm U metal and cut a 5mm recess on side as you can see in pic... and drilled the shock U bracket on it.. its really nice to drive.. cant wait for summer..

no not at all. it would just be nice to make mods without it being a major exercise. not having to custom make everything wouuld be nice.

Loved these as a kid but never owned one as my pocket/job money went into Electric off road racing with various Tamiya 2wd/4wd buggies.
I've recently got back into the electric side of the hobby after long break (Although I've had Nitro 4x4 off road for the last 10 years).
just bought a Traxxas Stampede and currently bidding on a Midnight Pumpkin...with a few Lunchboxes lined up in my watch list if I miss the MP.
Great thread.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I took my trusty Lunchbox with me on my Easter vacation, my son and I found a small field out by our vacation spot and preceded to run Lunchy. The field had very short grass and a couple badger mounds and tons of gopher holes, the badger mounds made great jumps, we ran a couple packs and were having a great time. My son then hit one of the larger mounds and Lunchy flew about 4 feet off the ground and when it landed the left front hit right in a gopher hole. I heard a snap sound and then proceeded to watch my tire and wheel roll ahead of the very stuck Lunchbox, I thought oh crap snapped and axle or broke a arm, wrong!! My center hub part of my wheel punched out cleanly, bearings intact, I have never had that happen on my Lunchy and I have owned one or another over a twenty year period. Oh well, she will be getting new rims soon and a complete teardown and cleaning along with some new rear shocks. I can not let this rc set as my Lunchy is my go to car when I just want to have fun and laugh.

Yes, a new one is better, because you will get to build it up!

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
MissB has started her LunchBox build.
Zeroing the servo
All organized.
Tyres and foam inserts fitted.
Coming along.
Gearbox and drive unit is together as well.
She is doing great, not a single overtightened thread or rounded off screw head....she's a hustler, I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
