how can you tell the difference?Its not stamped anywhere.

The backplate is the main external difference. The "L" will have mounting points for a YS engine mount, however the FZ-Sport also has this. The "L" will also have nipples for fuel line connection on the backplate. These nipples are not present on the FZ or FZ-Sport.
