February 9th and 10th Lancater Pattern Contest
The season opener for D7 is starting to get close! The one-day AMA/F3A High Desert Winter Pattern contest is on Saturday, February 9th. Registration is open at http://www.patternflying.com/TempRegistrationPage.aspx
Please register as it will greatly help getting things started in the morning. Remember we will be using the new Advanced and Masters patterns. F3A will be flying P-13 for three rounds and then F-13 for one. We will then take the best three of all 4 rounds.
Then on Sunday, February 10th we will be having the one-day AVTI Winter Classic Pattern meet. All the CPA classes will be available. You can register for this meet at http://www.classicpatternassociation...istration.html
Keep in mind the changes in the Classic patterns for this year. You can get the schedules for Pre-Novice, Novice, Advanced and Expert at http://www.classicpatternassociation.com/Home_Page.html There is one mistake in the Pre-Novice call card. After the Traffic Pattern there is the Landing.
Classic Masters will be using the 1980/81 rule book. Go to http://www.classicpatternassociation...formation.html and click on the 1980-81 button and you'll get a pdf of the rules. It's 14 maneuvers including Takeoff and Landing with a total K-Factor of 45.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather and we'll have a great time! Looking forward to seeing everyone!

RE: February 9th and 10th Lancater Pattern Contest
Thanks for the pics, Jarvis. We had a great day today with the Classic Pattern. The winds died down and it was nearly perfect flying conditions all day. With 13 entrants we flew one line and got in three rounds before calling it a day. I have to say, it sure looked to me like everyone was having a great time! Watching the Nor-Cal bunch fighting it out in Advanced with all of the Peanut Gallery activity was a hoot! I hope this format of a one-day AMA/F3A contest followed by a one-day Classic meet worked for everyone. If so, we are sure to do it again in the future.
One thing I'd like to point out. We got a great turnout of club members in the Pre-Novice and Novice classes. It is so much easier to be able to take a flier interested in competing in an R/C Aerobatics contest and get them through Pre-Novice or Novice then the current Sportsman class. To fly Sportsman, I feel, takes a pretty big commitment from a sport flier just to get through it without totally messing everything up. But Pre-Novice in most cases takes just a few flights and they're ready to try a contest. Just something to think about.
Oh, BTW, Steven Schoolcraft and his father, James Schoolcraft were flying my Mini-Contender with one of the new Spektrum AS3X RX's. While it probably helped them be a little smoother with that small model, it wasn't a guaranteed trip to the winner's circle.
Here are the results,
Pre-Novice Score
1. Jean Greear 154.250
2. Michael Whitacre 153.250
3. Donald Fox 150.750
4. Steven Schoolcraft 146.750
5. James Whitacre 134.250
Novice
1. James Schoolcraft 181.500
Advanced
1. Frank Capone 187.750
2. Dick Belden 181.250
3. Dale Olstinske 178.500
4. Jon Carter 173.500
5. Jon Bruml 163.750
Masters
1. Tony Frackowiak 822.750
2. Robert Fish 740.000
