Bungee covers are installed, I'm happy with the fit. There is about 1/4 - 1/2" extra width to allow the gear to compress without the covers interfering.

I decided I will wait until the Futaba 14SG is released and get my new receive for this plane with the radio. Should, hopefully, be about two weeks.

The repair is perfect. You did a great job on the cub! Can't wait to see it fly again!

SDP, Thanks for the link to the video, I enjoyed it. I wonder how difficult it was to land...

I gave up waiting for the radio to be released. Ordered a 6208SB HV Receiver, it's now installed and the plane is ready to fly again.

I'll do a quick CG check and put the plane in the ready position for my next outing!

I've been wanting to try this for a while... I made some Bezels out of solid aluminum rod for the instrument panel. Not scale but neither was my panel in the first place.

I am new to the whole metal lathe thing so it is fun when a project turns out. I learned a lot during the process.

I will probably make three more for the smaller gauges at a later date

Gee SDP, that sure is a pretty panel!  That makes mine look like a pile!

I might have missed it, but where did you get the instruments?  I think I know, and indeed I could probably go back and look... but I've got other things that need tending to!

Take care,
David

I took a screen shot of Microsoft Flight Simulator then cut / pasted them into a file with photoshop, arranging and sizing them in the process

Printed on photo paper.

Ah, very cool! Good idea, as long as you have the flight sim. Since I was matching three instruments from Anthony (the two outer instruments were too large), I had to take a screen shot of some that Robert recommended, used Paint Shop Pro to crop them, pasted them into AutoCAD and redrew them to 1/4 scale, then printed onto photo paper. WHEW! They don't look as good as yours but at least they all match.

Looks like you're getting the hang of that lathe real quick. Nice Job. I'll bet you can even make some nice knobs for your dash as well...

Turning metal is a lot of fun... Strangely relaxing.

This morning I finished up the smaller bezels.

I think the Nieuport is going to get something out of brass!

The aluminum rod I have was purchased from Tower Hobbies a long time ago, K&S brand I believe.

When I get the brass for the Nieuport I'm going to try WWW.OnlineMetals.Com. They allow you to order just about anything, have a lot of info about each type of metal, and have no minimums.

I HAVE BEEN FLYING ONE FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS. I ALSO CONVERTED IT TO a Super Cub clipped wing version of Sigs Kit. It flys with a Fuji 24. It is much more aerobatic with the clipped wings. I have been flying for 30 years with 40-50 different aircraft over that time, and this has been my most fun plane to fly. JMPUPS

Beautiful work SDP! I logged in to RCU so I can comment on this great build you have allowed us to keep track of. I just received my sig 1/4 cub that I will be building for my father as he built many kits for me when I was younger (just a way to give back to him, you know). Thank you for this thread and all the great pictures/details/mods you have shared with us. I can't wait to get to buildin'!

Thanks a lot.. The kit is a great build.

I just finished double checking the CG after the rebuild and the plane is all prepped for its "Re-Maiden" tomorrow morning. Should be a lot of fun!

Glad it is back in flying condition.

Hey SDP,

I just re-read your build thread and could not seem to find an answer to my question, so here goes.....Did you spray the Glass kote right over the Solartex or spray clear dope before paint ? getting ready to spray some Glass kote and was wondering ?

Don

You can paint Klass Kote right on top of solartex.  No primer needed.  Just tack rag the covering and spray away.
