RE: Comp ARF Spitfire
Hi I had to cut away a part of rail bracket andI put more rail ply to lift the wheel out of the wing so the wheel cover would close tothe leg. I also trimmed around part of wing so that it wouldclear the leg

Thats one wing half done. Gear is in it, geardoors made and mounted, servos linkages done. I pull the RX out and adjusted the control surfaces and tested them. I think im doing fairly well on time. Started it about 8 days ago.....

I love this plane, it's on my to do list for sure.

One thing surprised me, I figured at this level they would not use exposed linkages, is the wing just too thin or I it a choice to stay with a more robust setup?

It could be done, but I think the leverage would be fairly week. This isn’t going to fly at compition its just for me to fly so I can live with it. The progress is now switching to the other wing. I have the mold on it now for the gear doors so i will be moving to the linkages next.

RE: Comp ARF Spitfire
Two of the Spitfires that flew at WOTR this past year had the linkages set up both ways. You can clearly see them in photos of them together in formation if you go to their website and look at 2012 pics.
I am not competing with mine, so I am doing the exposed linkages on my build. I also used a seperate servo for the steering of the tailwheel. Pull/pull for the rudder.
I cant seem to find a photo of my wings yet.

My cockpit kit came in on Friday. I ordered it from Ty's Planes. This cockpit kit was made for the comp arf spit so it will fit without a bunch of mods. i guess im getting lazy...

A good post to delete I'm thinking.... With no hard feelings.
Man it was getting so bad I had to go outside to change my mind. Well it’s all clean and I even got my build plans organized. I got a whole shelf in my supply closet back by putting the plans in my office in a real blueprint rack.

I am going to hide my switches air and gas fill in a hatch. The spitfire has a very nice one behind the cockpit. I have used this location in other spitfires. Step one is make a mold for the hatch. so spray it down with pva... just a little dab will do you. Thats it for tonight in the morning the mold will have cured and im set.

Dave,
I have a cockpit for the ESM 50 cc spit that might fight. It is a little smaller than the 50cc one... I would need to know the measurements.
you can email me from my website...

And thats my switch hatch done and installed. I have painted my cockpit kit and am waiting on it to dry. After that i should be able to start moving forward again.
