Servos for 20cc profile?
What's the best servo (20cc profile or 90-120 size plane) for the buck these days? I was looking at the Hitec 7975 but there might be something cheaper? I'll be using them on a 20cc profile I think.
Thanks loads,

Somebody asked the same question about a 20cc powered 70" Revolver a few days ago, some info came up that might interest you?

I read a little of that thread but when they start talking that kind of cheap I'm done. I learned my lesson the hard way about too cheap. Don't even bother anymore trying to get cheap. I get what's necessary, no more no less.

I know what you mean about running from the low price spread servos. I use hitec's almost exclusively..... but am going to try the HD 150's ($14 !) or the Savox's on one of my profiles. Will give you a report. Clearly, they are working great for some people. The Savox's are in very high regard around here, being used on gassers set up by Valley View. One thing in their favor is free shipping from Troy Built Models also.

Two of us ordered some of the HD Power servos from Value Hobby along with a couple of the Sabre 56" profiles. We'll give you a report in the future.

Yup. I've been using them for close to two years now on 30 and 50cc planes. The Power HD's work great. Great servos.
I've also used the 10kg ( that's 138oz/in @ 4.8v for you non-metric types or about 150+ oz/in @ 6v) HK servos given in the referenced thread link: [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__2__HXT_10kg_Servo_metal_gear_55g_10kg_16sec.html]HK Servos[/link]
They have held up very well in my Giant Big Stik w/30cc Syssa Engine, and my 50cc aircraft.
I've never had one fail with close to 40 in use.

They're the same one's I wrote about when I referred your question to the "Larger Revolver" string above. I have those in 2 planes, one of which has had the tar beaten out of it for the last 3 seasons (1 season in a Funtana, the second 2 in the recently retired gas powered OMP Fusion). No failures yet, though they are digitals, so they're power hungry! They need to double (or triple?) the price of them so they're taken more seriously....

I've taken to putting in dual LiFe 30c packs in parallel to power these servos.
On my Ultimate 50cc ( 8 of these servos, nine total ) I'm using dual 3200mAh packs. Two 5A regulators were not enough to power these servos reliably due to the momentary power drain spikes at startup that glitch the switching transistors on the regulators.
On my 30cc Big Stik ( 7 servos 8 total) I'm using dual 2100mAh packs - [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=21121]These - Click here[/link]
Those LiFe packs @ $9.52/ea end up being cheaper than NiCD's and NiMH, though you do need a LiFe capable charger for them.
