I'm in... lol. I'm more into 3D flying with 48-78" planes, but I recently decided to go "old school" and try a scratch-build. I talked to a buddy of mine who started flying 30yrs ago, mainly scale, and he recommended the Senior Kadet. So now I'm almost done with my first build! I converted it to electric, and made a few other mods, and now I'm trying to figure a way to best support a bolt-down wing in lieu of rubber bands. I can post picts of my build if people are interested? It may not be as nice a job as some of the other more experienced builders here, though. haha.

I'd like to see a picture of that, it sounds cool.

My LT-40 gets maidened tomorrow. I got most of the epoxy off the covering, but not all, I added some re d scallops to liven it up some. I may fly this off floats so I put lots of bubbles under the red covering to help emergency floatation, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Looks great.
Now's the time to add the lights and flaps. Oh, don't forget the candy bay for making it a candy bomber. It would probably be a good time to put the aft float supports in to. I see you've put some windows in all ready, how about a skylite in the wing? Don't forget the towline support for aero towing. Is this going to have just one engine or three?

Test flew mine today, it flew like a LT-40, it need two clicks of right airleron. The motor hadn't been run in five years so I had 3 dead stick landings[:@] if I doesn't get better I have a Surpass .70 waiting to go in.

This isn't Miami, so it must me snow. It was nice 45° slight breeze, would have been better if the motor kept running though.

Default RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

G'day I'd love to join the Kadet Brotherhood.

At the present time I have a kit built LT-40 just about to roll out of the hanger. It is built per the plan but is covered in Solatex iron-on cloth. Nose weight is a Saito 62.

I also have three Kadets Senior, a LT-25 (kit built), a Mk II Kadet and a Seniorita EP ARF which came from Hobbyking and which is called by them a Margurita.

My oldest Kadet Senior is now about 9 years old. For many years it had a Saito 56 on the front but recently I needed the 56 for another assignment and I put a Saito 62 in it instead. It is covered in Solatex which is holding up really well for its 9 years. It does all my initial training of new pilots and I have also taken to using it as a landing trainer.

The next oldest Senior has a wing modified for ailerons. They are the same dimension as the ARF version. I reduced the dihedral to about half the original amount and as a result it files well on the ailerons but will also turn quite well on the rudder and elevator. It has a Laser 70. I really like Laser four strokes.

The most recent Senior is my Zeraux (faux Zero). It is covered in white Solatex and trimmed to look a bit like a Japanese Zero. It has a Saito 90R3 radial on it as I needed to get the Saito running in the air to run it in properly. It does not get a lot of flying but when it does it sure turns heads with its looks and the way it sounds.

I had a Seniorita which I built from a kit for a long time but recently I gave it to a friend so when I saw the EP Senioritas that Hobbyking were selling I bought one. It sure looks like a Sig kit but it did have a few quality problems. Despite all this it files magnificently with a 25 size electric motor and a 5000mAh 4 cell pack. I can get about half an hour flying from the pack on a 10 x 5 prop which gives plenty of pull.

I also gave away my original LT-25. I think the little LT is a much overlooked model. It is not small and it flies really well with a 30 four stroke or 25 two stroke. I recently built another one with an Enya 36 four stroke. I love it.

Last year I built a Kadet Mk II. It is the only Kadet I really do not like. It is quite heavy for its size even though I used Monocote. Power is an OS 52 four stroke which is just about right but its high wing loading relative to all the other Kadets is not to my taste.

When the latest LT-40 comes off the assembly line I will post some photos.

Cheers

Mike in Oz
