DLE 55 cracked cylinder ventilation
hello every one
I've crashed my COMP-arf yak55 during a cross wind rough landing
as a result of this one of these ventilation rips at the top of the cylinder head was bended and two small parts brooked
is that might cause any issues with the ventilation ?
PS, the piston compression looks ok

RE: DLE 55 cracked cylinder ventilation
Depends on your cooling setup, and how much of the cooling ribs broke off. These parts DO have a function. You will see cylinder distortion for sure. How much this will be noticed depends on the cylinder roundness to begin with. Some engines are more square than round, so you might not notice it at all.
Comp-arf is not an engine IIRC. Just another troll?

Well, I would simply try the engine out and see how it runs. If it runs OK, don't worry about it. But worst case is you might need a new cylinder/head. They aren't all that expensive, so it isn't a big deal to get a new one.

RE: DLE 55 cracked cylinder ventilation
I got a DLE 30 from a guy who lost his 540 into a tree
it broke off every cooling fin on the side of the head above the muffler flange. Wich is quite a bit of materal
Im useing my DX8 and thus far the temps are no higer than any othere of my DLE 30 with good ducking. I won't know for sure unti the summer. I would just replace the head but the motor is well broken in.

Post a good photo of the engine where the thing is broken. Maybe then a better answer may be posted. If you do not have a camera....one of your friends could help you. Capt,n
