Default Looking for Plans-Wild Thing .40-.45 size

I have the plans for the .15-.25 Wild Thing, originally kitted by Presicion Aero years ago. There was a .40 kit also and I am looking for plans or info on the .40 size plane. Awesome combat plane in small size and would like to scratch a bigger version. Does anyone have any info on such an animal? Thanks Flipstart

Just saw them in the December or January edition of Radio Control Modeler (RCM), I'll check when I get home tonight to see what plan # and such.

I too have the 15 sized plane, actually, Precision Aero sold the rights to the Wild Thing and now kits a similar plane called the Crazy Thing. It's built awaiting maiden, can't wait!

I think what you are looking for is MAN plan number fsp04911, I've got the .15 size and love it, the .40 size looks a little more stickish to me, Tom Stryker design. Seems like he designed a little p51 and messerschmitt for MAN also.

Precision Aero is selling the plans & construction manuals for both sizes for around $10 ~ $10.95 at this link,
http://www.precision-aero.com/shop/plans/

I have the Wild Thing .15 kit that I'll get to one of these years

It's 36". I finally started mine but shelved it to finish another 3 year long project that will maiden Mon. morning. I'm considering enlarging the fuselage some on mine for a larger battery.

I made a set of plans for a Speed 400 version of the Wild Thing. If you think you can use them I can post them here.

Howdy Ken,

Go ahead and post 'em. Could be lots of builders who would like to build a Wild Thing that size and just need some plans to go by.

Interesting! I posted a request for a Wild Thing plan in this thread back in 2008. I have since found the plans as well as an original, unopened Precision Aero .15 size kit. Photos of that kit box are uploaded here for those who may be curious. The kit is part of my stash which I intend to build during my retirement days.

When you do build your "Wild Thing" watch for differences in the "precut" balsa LE & TE lengths compared to the plan. On mine the plan is drawn smaller than is stated while the balsa was the correct sizes. In "small print" on the plan it also states to watch for this. I didn't see the warning until I was past that part of the build. I'll try to remember to post a photo of that later today. Also my fuselage sides needed trimming & sanding quite a bit so that they matched each other.
