Just like most things when it comes to these planes i have changed my mind on the servo setup. so the airtank is getting moved and the fule take will go on top of the deck next to the fuse. And i put Sailor in when i test fitted the cockpit its starting to shape up. I used my servo trays on the servos for the motor.

ok last thing for the night. Im ready to install the tail wheel funness. I made a mold of the glass work. This is what i call a safety mold. mess up the glass work no problem just replace it with a new part

the instruction say to make a plate for the landing gear in the back. i get that but it makes it look like its non serviceable...thats not cool in my book we all know crap happens. I am also glad i made the mold it will make it easy to put a removeable cover over the gear plate

I was not happy with any of my options for the exhaust stacks so I commissioned a British fellow to help me out. Phil did a bang up job. His work is just outstanding. He also had already made a set of the round stacks for this bird. If you fancy the 12 count exhaust stacks for this kit pay him a visit you will not be disappointed in his work!

He is currently working on updating his site so all of his offerings may not appear on the current site. If you don't see it just send him a email

Nice job tframer!
Did you choose a paint-scheme for your Spitifre?
The cockpit kit, which you used. Is it TY´s cockpit?

Yes this spit will be painted in Malta desert camo. (EN199) I used the Ty Brown cockpit kit. This thing should be ready for primer soon.

RE: Comp ARF Spitfire
Im just about done putting this ARF together
So here are a few lessons learned on this plane
1. There is 3 degrees of right thrust built in to the cowling not the firewall. (This is not in the instructions.) Make sure you know about this before you mount your motor.
2. The firewall that ships with this is a little thin I strongly recommend cutting a new one for at least the inside of the fuse from 3/8 ply if your using a larger motor like the DA85
3. The servo hatches and wing are made of material that is easy to cut with an exacto knife. It is not necessary to use a dermal cutting wheel. Use the exacto knife and you won’t have to fill the gaps with ever cote.
I will have all the parts you see used in this build available for sale on my website after i complete this project.

Now with all that said I did purchase another one of these for a spare to put in my inventory. I feel this is going to be a airplane I will want to always have in my hanger.

Hey Terry, That doesn't look like a stock DA muffler. Did you have that made?

I am doing the same motor and muffler for my build also, and was wondering how much lead do you plan on pouring into the tray up front.
I think I will plan for at least 5 pounds. I think I am going to make a cowl ring out of lead up against the wall of the spinner to weigh about 1 pound alone.
I have bulk lead and usually melt it down into custom molds.

i dont know. the book says they used 4lbs with a da 50 so im hoping with the 85 up front i can get away with 2 or 3 lbs.... we will see when i balance it.

tfarmer,
the wing and elevator are made from the fibreglass? Because the rivets and the other details in the surface look very nice.

You are correct. Comp arf uses a foam material to back the glass work its very lite and strong. This is a very easy ARF to put together and from what i have seen it flys great.
