So much of what we do and the situations we get into are about the choices we make along the way

I guess i will keep using the supplied pipes, thats a lot of money for me it would cost 1500.00 to replace the ones supplied with my F-14. I totally get it, cost of living is higher so are materials but I don't make anymore than I did and in fact with the increase in taxes I am paying an extra 2000 in taxes this year [:@]
Plenty of people with money to sling so im sure this price change will not stop them
I doubt they would be that much. Straight pipes should be much less than split pipe.

Straight pipe not much increase is correct.
Only long and bigger diameter pipe chance by 5-10%.
Mostly the bifurcated pipe is the most labor intense.

Hang in there Tam. Great seeing you and Sean, he is a very nice boy, very polite and a great pilot! Conner had a fun time with him. We are both looking forward to seeing you all again.

I believe it would be worse if they no longer available. One thing that I encountered on the Pipes I have made is Cutting my fingers half a dozen times.

It is amazing that the double wall pipe is all it took to get the regular fiberglass fuse to work with a turbine engine.

Tam,
I for one am so glad you chose to take this action rather than stop making them. Some may buy something else but many see the value in your work and are happy to pay what you need to charge. You make a good product and as you are reading in this thread, many are grateful to have the option to buy your turbine pipes.

Tams are the best bar none. And they are still gonna be a reasonable price in my opinion.
Keep up the good work

Tam is the only person to build the Jacknife pipe......period. What is your 20K toy jet worth when you went cheap with the pipe and it came apart in the air?...FIREBALL. Entertaining yes, but costly in the end
Tam, I have several projects that will require your pipe art!!I'll call you tomorrow.

Keep the Corona's cold my friend,

Tam is the best person to know and deal with, and i have bought at least 5 pipes from him in the past and the quality/craftsmanship is well worth what you pay for it. I have been to Tam's office many times (used to live 20 miles from him) and have seen his workload. i have also seen his "customer requests" and the timeline requested at no additional cost. To me, if i have an expensive aircraft going in to the air, i want the best for the exhaust gases to leave the plane in.

Tam has aged man!! (No offense tam), but seriously......His business is a hard one, and he is a fairly 1 man army.......

Yo Tam, show this thread to your wife, show how you try to do the right thing for family and business, women understand how important people are in life, so it is not just things (pipes) but people you do this for. Then she will love you looong time Hmmm, that probably should have been a PM. But you rock, green bottle say so!

$75 an hour is not only fair, it is a screaming bargain. Last time I had the Heating/Cooling or appliance repairman over the house they charged 75 bucks just to show up, that's before they did anything!

Tamjets is almost like family in this hobby. It's one of those things we take for granted. What if he decided "screw it, I'm working for nothing, I'm closing up shop!" Here's the thing. Tam actually works and works hard. He deserves to be rewarded. $75 an hour is a pittance for what he does. I'd be like the appliance repairman; I wouldn't take less than a hundred!

$75 per hour to us in the UK if you can charge 8 hours a day is about £93,000 per year. I dont think many of us in the UK would call this a pittance not sure about the US.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons the US and other countries are in the mess they are

I agree however that it seems that Tam does excellent work

OMG.....someone need to open their own business and learn how much it cost to operate before give their opinion.
You want to share your opinion fine.
But here no one want to work for free are the rate you can afford.
IF you can afforded. Goes find another hobby.
Every hobby come with the price for peoples behide to provided that made products you buy.

I goes fishing often just paying for bait $40 just for 20 live mudsucker.
So $2.00 each for tiny little live bait. That is outraggous price right?
Just imagine for the person goes trap the bait.
I did that myself before.
It take me 3 hours just to trap 40-50 mudsucker.
Not counting the fuel cost to get there.
I'm happy to paid $2 for each mudsucker to satify my fishing hobby.
If you can afforded to play. Don't do it.

Its easy to see why you get banned all the time Dennis.

$75 per hour to a business is not much at all. Tam has a company with employees workers comp insurance taxes and so on. So $75 an hour is nothing for his service. Also if he was overpriced someone else would be doing it if their was money to be made. This is how capitalism works. Tam can charge what ever he wants. You don't want it then don't buy it simple as that.

Why not take your negativity somewhere else.

Uh huh. And where does the overhead come from? It all comes out of the £93,000 per year. Tam runs a business. He has to pay rent, the employees, the insurance, the taxes, advertising, futzing around with government forms and regulations. He's lucky if he has anything left. In short, Tam does not "make" £93,000 per year. Far from it.

You're right, this country is screwed up, but not for the reasons you state. We're screwed up because welfare benefits are now worth the equivalent of $60,000 a year for doing absolutely nothing. Why the hell work? We have 8.8 million on "disability," all legitimate I'm sure, 89 million "not working," whatever the hell that means, and 47 million on food stamps. Half the people in this country are collecting a check from the federal government. We are rapidly turning into a socialist, welfare, police state. That's why we're screwed up.

Please do not begrudge anyone for trying to make a decent living, for actually working hard. Especially the remaining few of us that actually do.

Tam!

I have been flying r/c jets over the past 6+ years, and not sure if I have had your product, or bought from you...I have always heard great things about your company.......but other wise.grey hair affect.......But, I used to be a Chief Pilot taking care of a corporate jet and retired from the business 14 years ago, so don' t know thecurrent prices to relate to this story. As Chief Pilot, I took my(the owners' aircraft) to the best maintenance company that I thought was for that turbo prop or jet. At that time, shop rate was $65 per mechanic with usually 6-8 mechanic per hour per plane per day working on the jet, and a beginning mechanic made $8-$10 per hour to turn screws. Inflation has come to the world. I also fly F3A airplanes along with IMAC 44% planes, and there is a guy in Canada that is known for making aluminum custom exhaust pipes for F3A Pattern planes or ANY Warbird, IMAC or anyother plane. Well, guess what? We pay a hefty price to have those header/ tuned pipes fit our engine, cowl, and duct work for the tuned pipe to go with it. Damn Tam! Charge what you need to, andget an apprentise into your shop to teach the trade, and see your kids more. Charge $75 an hour shop rate, and get your appretise in there for $15-$25 an hour. He works, you get paid, and you pass your talent on to others in the hobby. Good Luck! Dan

So you think that someone having an opinion different from yours is a problem do you and a comment that a 50 % increase is a large increase is negative. I think you need to wise up a little and try your best to understand.
