Believe it or not, silkspan and dope is REALLY EASY to use. It's just not as fast as the iron-on coverings, so it has lost favor.

I'll make you a deal. You frame up my Harmony bipe fuselage to the same stage as your Remora and I'll cover the Remora with silkspan and dope!

Dave, come on now, the harmony isn't that bad.....on my harmony I milled the fuse by hand like a foamy!

Chuck,

Awesome plane, How are you going to keep things cool inside? I don't see any exit holes for air to exit the fuse.

Doug,
Is Bruce Cronkhite a relation to you? He did a very in depth article on using silkspan in the mid 90s on the other website. I have used his technique and it works great.

The problem I have with the Harmony is it won't jump out of the box and up on my work bench for me to work on! Other stuff keeps getting in the way. Hopefully I'll get started soon as I'd like to get it finished this year.

A little Harmony2 inspiration for you...courtesy of a Houston area builder.

We should be able to cut holes as needed between some of the stringers on the bottom. Might have to reinforce the stringers that border the cutouts.

Sure wish I'd taught Chuck some silk and dope skills! I agree that fuse begs for s & d.

Looks like you're missing the 987th stringer. Probably will be alright without it though.

Seriously, Chuck - Looks great!!!

Does Leslie know you're working on this??

Awesome looking project. Can't wait to hear the flight reports and maybe see it in Muncie.

Totally unique design, look forward to the flight reports. Hopefully we will see it at the NATS.
