For those that are not club members just make sure you display your AMA card on the frequency board. All of our club members know we and hosting a race this coming Saturday so there should be no problem.

Good deal! Thanks a bunch for allowing those of us in to practice.. I was in the area a few days ago and thought I might as well find out where the field is.. Looks like a really nice place. I didn't get out of my truck but it looks like there was a chain. Is that to keep the poles together or is there any lock we might need to contend with?
If I don't have to go out of town this week I'll drop in for the club meeting as well.

Charles I had the cataract eye surgery last Thursday. I’m still having a little problem with double vision when I move my eyes from side to side. It takes a few seconds for things to come back into focus. Each day that passes that problem becomes less and less of an issue so I hope things will be normal in a day or two. However, when things are in focus I can see better that I have in many years. I will start flying again today or tomorrow with my trainer plane. I feel confident that my eyes will be ready by race day. Whether my thumbs will be is another matter.
David for the rest of this week there will not be a lock on the chain. Just open the gate and come on in. Welcome to GAMA.

Hay guys, you need not worry, now that I can see the plane I realize just how sloooow it is. I’m afraid of getting rear-ended by you fast guys as you lap me.

The Georgetown race is in the books and what a fantastic day it was. It was a little windy but mostly down the runway. The carnage was a bit on the high side with eight planes lost, six from mid airs and two from dumb thumb. The big problem for me was when the computer program would not work as advertised. So after an hour of the top computer gurus trying to figure out what was wrong we finally went to the old fashion way of running the race using paper, pencil, fingers and toes. From now on I will have a “paper race system†ready for use in case the computer fails to cooperate.
Now for the race results;
After four rounds of heat racing the top 10 pilots were selected for the A, B, and C main events. In the C-Main were Charles Krempin, G C Dimit, Ted Deziezic, and Damon Darnell, with Damon winning and moving up to the B Main.
The B Main consisted of Toby Frisk, David Frisk, Steve Fabianki and Damon Darnell with Steve winning and moving up to the A Main
The A Main included George Bails, Richard Moll, Jerry Helluims and Steve Fabianki with Steve again winning the heat and setting fast time of the day of 1:32.25. This was a very close race with Richard coming in second with a 1:32.65.
Here are the standings for all pilots with their best time of the day.
1 Steve Fabianki 1:32.25
2 Richard Moll 1:32.65
3 George Bails 1:43.47
4 Jerry Hellums 1:45.38
5 David Frisk 1:40.20
6 Toby Frisk 1:38.78
7 Damon Darnell 1:39.50
8 Ted Deziezic 1:42.03
9 Charles Krempin 1:55.13
10 G C Dimit 2:01.15
11 Steve Blackwell 1:57.15
12 Gary Fisher 1:46.25
13 James Houck 2:06.81
14 Mike Buckalew 2:06.40
15 Fred French DNF
16 Ken Hopson DNF
Fred French and Ken Hopson had bad luck in the first round and in the spirit racing they continued helping other pilots during the day.
See you all in Waco

Bob,
It appears I left my starter at the field. Let me know if you finda Kavan starter with a red battery box laying out by the pilot station. I can identify it as it has my name on the bottom. :-)
Thanks ,
Ted

Hi Ted,
My brother (Toby) took it with him to meet up with you. You fly at the Alvin club, correct?

A great big thanks to Bob, Gary, Ken and the rest of the other people who worked & volunteered to bring this event off.. I had a great time and I know my friends did as well. After the races I/we got to spend some time talking to Bob about a variety of things, especially pylon racing history. I'm also very grateful to Fred for holding / calling for some of my races as well as Ken, who was one of the first people I met Friday evening and answered all my questions and more..
While I would definitely have showed up solo, it was all that much more fun for me to have my brother (Toby) and good friend (Damon) there as well..

I have a couple videos and a lot of picture I will upload in the next day or two for those who might want to see them.

It was nice to see some new pylon racers come in to race with us! David & Toby Frisk and Damon Darnell you guys ran with the best of them! Congratulation to Steve Fabianki for kicking our buts! Steve and I tried to occupy the same air space at pylon #2 in our first heat with the loss of 2 planes… [&o]

Ted when I went to the field this afternoon one of our club members gave me a starter he found this morning by the pilot flight stations. If the one that Toby is bringing to you is not yours than maybe the one I have is yours and the one that Toby has belongs to someone else. What brand and what type of batteries did your starter have?
Also left at our field was a 9.6V transmitter battery with charger. Does anyone know who this might belong to?

I meant to post asking about that, Bob. That's Damon's transmitter charger. I'll see if I can pick it up from you next time out at the field.
Thanks,
David

I had a great time. Thanks to all who supported the event. With no place to go but up I am working on tuning my Raider for Waco and completing my backup. I definitely won't hesitate to go out and practice when it is windy after flying in 30 mph gusts.

Ted I answered your PM.
Well it looks like Toby has Ted’s starter and I have someone else’s. Did anyone else leave a starter at the Georgetown field?
