RE: Power Unlimited longevity
You want cooling inlet area?? I got you covered!! This is what the Abbra looks like. That is the OS 100-amp ESC sitting in front of the 2x4,400 5S packs. My packs are rarely over 110, even on warm days. The other photos are the outlets. Very effective. I call it the "Gaping Maw"

RE: Power Unlimited longevity
Today's flights were in the 2650 range (intermediate, 6 minutes), I now remember doing the math and it was ok so I forgot about it.
Next question: I charge the night before and have developed a habit of topping off the batteries beforeI fly. Is this a good, bad or indifferent thing ?

I charge the night before, sometimes a day or 2 before. Lipos hold charge very well, especially for that short of a time. I would not waste time "topping off". Especially just for practice.

Is it recommendid to still dis-charge your batteries after a day of flying if you are not going to use them for while or is that day of use considered storage safe for a couple of weeks of non-use? This is assuming your within the 80% rule after the flights and so forth...

Nice discussion!
I will focus more on battery cooling and temperature as the cause of my sometimes poor battery longevity.
Just ordered an onboard temp monitor that a buddy uses on the rear cylinder of his IMAC plane. This device records peak temps. May need to be "calibrated" against an IR temp gun, but if it's junk I'm not out too much $. I bought from this guy's ebay store for $10.

I top mine off at a 1-amp rate and have put in anywhere from 90 - 200mah. I wouldn't top off at your normal 1C rate.

RE: Power Unlimited longevity
If I fly a set of packs and don't plan to fly again for a few days, I just leave them in that state (20% or more still in packs). If it's going to be a long term storage, I charge them up to storage levels. If I have any packs left that were charged but not flown and don't plan to fly for a week or so, I discharge to storage levels. Of course, weather can impact the best of plans, but that's my normal routine. I usually charge the night before I'm going to fly at 1C and then top off the packs right before I fly at 1 amp.

RE: Power Unlimited longevity
Several delays at the factory as we don't use off the shelf cells for the packs so they have to make a special run for our cells. They were due back in early Feb but it has been pushed back and should arrive within the next 10 days. We try to time arrival of fresh batteries for Spring and this time they are a little late unfortunately.

Any updates on the X 35C 5S-5100s? (I'd hate to think the web page is still showing no stock due to a cached page on my machine!)
