Default Reedy 13.5 and 3300 KV motor in a Traxxas Slash?

I'm looking to start racing SC open, and whats better than doing it for free? Will this motor give me enough power, and it is a 540. Will it fit in the Slash's 550 motor mount? Thanks!

yes, it will fit in a slash...or any other SCT.
It will be plenty of power.
Based on my experience, it will be harder to drive the truck brushless...and tire choice/setup will be much more important than when brushed.

Do others at your track run the slash?

Yeah; the LHS owner runs Holeshots (which is what I have) on a Slash, and he is placing in good spots.

Thanks very much again, nitrosportsandrunner! The motor runs cool and fast like a bat outta h***. I enjoyed doing full-speed runs and hering those gears squeal higher than ever before

I've been racing for a very long time; about 3 years. It'll be my first time racing a 2wd brushless sc truck and i'm looking forward to it. Thanks!

That's the stock system for the SC10RS and it's plenty fast enough for racing. I agree with nitro, tire selection will make a big difference in performance along with suspension tuning. It's hard to make specific recommendations because not all tracks are created equal. You've already discovered that Holeshots work pretty well in your area; I use those and Blockades at my track. See what the top drivers are using and see if you can get some suspension setup tips from them too. Look for similarities between setups but, also consider that everyone's driving style is different so while a truck might feel right to one guy it could feel loose to you.
