EAGLE 01. IF you want to stay with glow motors. You can use a S/T 2500. or S/T 3000. Mounting the cly side ways. I have 2 of my fleets mounted this way. THE S/T 2500 would be the better choise.  And priced right.  Hope this helps some.  HANK # 20.

EAGLE  01. I am not familar with the mokie 180. THE 180 should do fine. Is the mokie a front carb ?. I would measure from the fire wall, to the end cowl  prop hub. This would give you a idea. I would  lay the cowl flat dn, with with motor inside. THis will give a idea.  I hope this helps some.  To date I have built 22  fleets, for a number of people. I am on my last fleet now for a friend.  Let me know how this turns out for you.  HANK #20

Thanks, I appreciate the info, and any more you might think of. The plane is in rough condition, but I can tell it was once a real beauty.

Sadly, it is time to sell my Fleet.
I think I have it over-priced because she's so darn pretty.
For anyone interested, here's the ad.

Thanks,

The problem with our hobby is that when we go to sell something it becomes a buyer's market. Unless you overpayed for it, you may want to reduce the asking price. Or, if it's not imperative, just wait it out until you get what you're asking.

By the way, it's a real nice aircraft.

Joe,

That's a beautiful airplane and easily worth the amount you're asking. As Bob said, you may have to wait for the right buyer.

Meanwhile, I'm struggling on building mine and it seems like it's taking forever. This weekend I made holders/jigs for the rigged left/right wing pairs and got the cabanes mounted inside the fuse. Should now be ready to initially rig the wings then tear down for painting.

Trying to post pics, but seems to be a problem...

Well it now seems to be working.

Joe,
Very nice plane.

Do you know what engines were used to create the cowl?

Keep at it Dave, you'll get it done.

Can you give me some insight on the attachments you have for the N-struts? I'd like to use something similiar on my Boeing Model 40.

Thanks for the encouragement. I keep thinking I could've built 10 "Stiks" in this amount of time.

As far as the struts, on the top ends they are aluminum sheet pieces set into a slot sawn in the spruce stock. Put a small screw as a pin through the sandwiched wood/alum. The other ends are 4-40 threaded rod into a hole drilled in the spruce with Dubro 4-40 threaded rod ends same as I used for the ends of the flying/landing wires and also my tail bracing. Gives some adjustability. If you look at a real fleet, the rear N strut has what looks like a similar arrangement and I'm guessing it can be used to trim the rigging somewhat.

The Boeing has some unusual strut arrangements. Looks like it'll be lots of fun!!!

Dave

I'm a bit dense, Dave. Can you post a closeup of the lower end fitting?

Thanks to Bob, Steve and Dave.

Steve, not sure what engines were used but somewhere in this blog they were identified, just need to search through them all.

Gooooooood pictures Dave! And nice work too.

The Boeing will be a bear to assemble at the field with the aforementioned struts and support wires.

Maybe it's my eyes, but is that streamlined landing wire? If not, does anyone have a source for the stuff because the full size Boeing has it.

Bob... I got my Streamilined flying wires from
www.flying-wires.ch/flying-wires/index.html

Hans Gautschi is a great guy to work with...Switz.

His wires are cold pressed stailess steel and exact replicas of WWI types used....Mine were 1/4 scale...not sure what other sizes he has...check out his web.

Bob,

No, mine are all round with 4-40 threads on one end.

Boy, if you have a chance to look at the guy's website in Switzerland that Mien Duff provided, there are some fabulous looking airplanes with fabulous looking streamline wires obviously! Makes me want to go back to building stiks.

steve, how did the plans turn out for you ?.  Dependining on how much you want to spend on motor. the S/T 2300 or S/T 3250 will work fine.  the fleet I am working on nown will have a S/T 3000 converted to gas. Found this in my motor cabinet  by luck. Forgot I had it. Brand new in the box.     HANK #20 .

Hank, The plans worked out good. I haven't done much with this plane yet. I have the elevator and rudder fixed I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up then Im going to see how the 325R5 runs. If its not running good I'm going to replace it that's why I was asking about engines.
