Yes I believe it is stronger. The 4 inch bolts will add some weight, but not enough to cause any problems. The 1/16 plate will add to the spinner gap,but that not much. Test run and flight won't come until next week, cold rain and strong winds today and strong wind the rest of the week. Thanks for the idea Roger it is your system. I can't see it coming loose now!

Looks good, I wish I had done this when I was building my Plane, I may still have to if my bolts come loose, thanks for sharing and posting the Pictures.

Why did you need the 1/16'' Plate?

I have over a dozen, I always check my planes after each flight for stuff like this, loose bolts, clevices etc. I didn't balance my spinner I just put it on, I have minimal vibration so it must have been close to being balanced. I have even belly landed and broke a prop and the wood under the standoffs didn't show any signs of damage. Glad you found the prob with yours and fixed it, it would suck to lose such a beautiful bird!

On my 33rd flight the engine didn't sound right.I set up and landed. When I started to taxi back the engine started to speed up on its own and I hit the kill switch. The plane nosed over and came to rest on its nose and the main gear. When I got to it I could see that the top engine bolts were completely loose. As the engine fell away from the firewall it opened the throttle causing it to speed up. I cringe to think what would have happened if those bolts had come loose in flight rather than the taxi back!!!!. CHECK,CHECK,CHECK... This is why I went to the extreme on remounting the engine.

Roger, I saw you were Online and Nelson was not and I'm sure he will add a reply later, but from reading the thread and his postings, his Engine Coming Loose Problem Prompted him to revise or change the Engine Mounting to correct the problem; so in answer to your question, his engine came Loose Before changing the the way the engine was mounted.

Hoping it did not come loose using my method, I would feel bad if it did.[&o]
Mine is still holding good, and when I checked it this winter all still seemed tight.
Weather just now starting to melt snow and winds have been 15-25 all winter long around here[:@]

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale
I have seen several prop sizes recommended on this thread - 22x6, 23,8 and now 22x12. I am currently using a 22x6 ona DA-50,which seems to do well. I recently purchased some 23x8 to try. Which size seems to be the most popular with everyone?
