Default hotmac club 40 race

Club 40 racers ,race time in waco , april 20, hoping to have new digital light lap counter/ cut counter system usable at race time , club pres been working very hard on it , should be great! callers will be called on to count their racers laps via push button ,cut indicators under each lane lap readout , will be first time use (after tests ) so some patience will be appreciated , also my first try at being cd, we'll pull off race one way or another. check hotmac.org for details

The new system sounds sweet. Myself and Mike Buckalew plan on making the drive up from Alvin forthis event.

Ted

As an FYI for any other out of towners coming in on Friday. I found a room with 2 dbl beds at Motel 6 @ 7007 Woodway Drive, Waco, Tx, 76712 for $44 a night for the online reservation price. Motel 6 is not fancy but in my experience, they are at least clean and best of all, You can't beat that price!

Sounds like a plan Steve! I talked to Mr. Bird about his system back a few months ago it should be a really nice deal!

Steve, I will be there and I’m pretty sure that Gary, Ken and maybe a few more. I will bring a paper matrix and scoring system with me just in case your computer gets stubborn. Since this is your first time as CD I will give all the help I can. You are aware that I ger a sinior discount of 15 seconds off my actual time.

Bench tested system last Monday and all bugs seem to be worked out. Planning to test this Tuesday at the field.

Steve,

Unfortunately Randys shop is an hour away(50+ miles)from my side of town and don't have any immediate plans to head that direction before the the Waco race.I'll ask around the field and see if anyone has plans on going to his shop between now and race day.

Ted

Hey Bob, We saw Jim DeYoung at Toledo Friday. He's flying, but not racing. I told him you were into Club 40. Let us know how the Pattern thing is working out? Greg

Greg, thanks for the feedback on Jim, we go back to the early 70’s. I raced a few of his QM Fokkers. They were faster than I was.

As for Pattern I came in dead last after crashing on landing in the first round. That Pattern stuff is harder than it looks, but it’s fun

Bob,
I saw a lot of other old time racers too, but Jim DeYoung was someone who most of us hadn't seen in many years, and I knew you and he were friends. Also at Toledo were: Allen Booth, Jim Gager, Dan Kane Sr. (Jr. was supposed to be there Saturday) Dave Latshaw, Rick Moorland, Denny Sumner, Dicky, and Randy Rich, and of course Wayne Yeager. There were probably others that I've missed. With the right engine and prop, Jim's Fokker was one of the fastest QM's of all time. Greg

Charles I’m having the second eye fixed Thursday, 9 days before the Waco race. It should be OK by race day. If I can’t see good enough to race I’ll call for you, [8D] that way you’re sure not to have any cuts.

Wondering how the field test went, been awful quiet about it? We gonna have to race barefooted and count laps on our toes?

Motors run better and planes fly faster in cool weather. looks like a good day to set a new fast time record.

In the past at Hico, we had callers with only 9 toes and some with only 8. Either that or they simply couldn't count!!!!! ck
