Default Put some bits on the wife's MeRV...

Erm...

Golden Racing or Horizons or whatever they call themselves red alloy copies of the Traxxas type center driveshafts. Not too impressed with those to be honest, heat shrink holding the pins from backing out? Really? Oh well, we'll see...
Traxxas steel universal driveshafts all around
All plastic ball ends replaced with Traxxas polished metal ball ends
Traxxas aluminum shocks with the now well known combo; brown front springs with 70wt oil and black rear springs with 80wt oil.
Traxxas extended wheelbase rear arms (brilliant, brilliant part)
Traxxas alloy push rods
Traxxas alloy toe links
Traxxas center differential
Traxxas response mounted tires
RPM front bumper
RPM rear bumper
Proline Baja Bug body painted in pink and white for the wife.

Haven't tested it yet, will do soon. I'm really liking the extended wheelbase combined with the larger 2.2 tires which have an aggressive offset, they really give it a nice truggy-like stance. almost like a MeRV XL, and should really make a difference to the handling, especially with all the other suspension changes and the center diff.

Enjoy... The wife is pleased. The view in the last pic is out of the hotel we've been staying at the last three days, for a spot of golf. Costa Navarino in Southern Greece.

That is a clean and awesome looking MERV. I like the looks up some Traxxas upgrades. Is there a reason why two rocker shocks are completely compressed? I don't know about these trucks so...

Thanks. It's had a few packs through it before the upgrades, though not a lot, and mostly on road. As you can tell by the parts list it was completely stripped and rebuilt this weekend, which is why its all clean now except the wing (if you look closely it's a bit chewed ).

cummins, yeh, the back left is up on the bodyshell. Suspension is fully articulated, 4.5 inches or so.

Oh, I see it now lol. Didn't see it to begin with. I was actually looking at  MERV at the time I was looking at the LX2e. Maybe if I'm in the market for another mini someday

In the one pic where they are compressed he has the rear tire sitting on the body which is compressing that shock and the front opposite shock. Gotta look close.

Nothing wrong with having heatshrink over the joint Foxy...maybe a little drag but the benefit of keeping the pin in and the joint dirt free is far more important to me.

Nah, they've only put a tiny sliver of inappropriate diameter heatshrink over just the pin, one of which was loose (the shrink slid up and down). The pins actually screw into the body of the driveshaft, but is not a very tight fit. I threadlocked them all and replaced the heat shrink, but it's a pretty poor way to present a product imo.

Ah, right...if they are threaded then why are they not thread locked in the first place?
I guess we have to face the fact that many things are not really fit for purpose.

Damit Foxy, that picture is killing me. It's a nice MERV and all, but its like 30 degrees here and snow all over the place and you have to go show a picture like that. [&o] I hate Ohio.......

If its any consolation, it's still too cold for pool use, or enjoying the beach, even in Southern Greece. Nice view though.

Looks pretty good. Almost enough to entice me into adding one to the collection.

Thanks

If you put aside that they are overpriced and still need a large number of hopups (not for durability so much as to make the car a bit more 'hobby grade', as it's pretty un-adjustable out of the box, and plastic ball ends and driveshafts? No way...), they have the potential to be great little runarounds. I'm particularly satisfied by the motor and ESC, which are pure overkill already for the weight of the car (and some people put 540s in these? Madness!), on 2s it runs like a champ, just right, not too fast, but fast enough to have fun. 3s when I feel the need for silly speed, but motor gets warm.

It's been run in stock form, mostly on-road, not been run since the upgrades were fitted this weekend, that's why it looks so clean. If you look at the wing, you can see the only indication that its not new, it has typically wheely chewed corners and some stone marks on the trailing edge.

I can't wait to run it tbh, I'm expecting it to run amazingly well.
