Wow... again!  That looks awesome!  (Got to use your imagination now.  Stupid 500 error)

Our problem with the weather is it's too nice... well, it was.  It's mid 60's now but it's been in the 70's and low 80's.  That makes grass grow as well as weeds and therefore yard work must be done.  Also the nice weather means I have to ride my bike more, and I mean I HAVE to ride more.  I need to loose about 25 Lbs!  [:@]  So count your blessings, you've got a good excuse for building!

Take care,
David

Looks real sharp Anthony. I'll bet you're glad now that you spent all that time on those rivets. Looks fantastic...

I pulled the mask from the center section, tunred out nice. No bleeding under the take even over the rivets. Will really pop once the gold stipe is applied.

Jeez that looks nice!  The mirror finish is spectacular!  You guys really set the bar high, or at least it looks high and that's what counts!

I am sold on the paint. It looks the same dry as it does when it is wet.

I have the bottom wing panels sprayed as well as one side of the struts. The airbrush and HVLP gun have been cleaned up for the night. I will unwrap the cowl and wings in the morning and see what I have.

I may be able to get the other wing panels sprayed and the tail feathers but there is just too much to do to try and rush and get it all sprayed tomorrow. The masking takes 4x the time the painting does.

Later!!

Thanks Jeff,
I unwrapped the cowl and wheel pants this morning. Looks good. The blisters worked out to be nice and even. I will unmask the wings then start masking for the next round of spraying.

Someone had asked about the Klass Kote being flexible over fabric. I don't think this will be an issue. I had a little white left over in a mixing cup and it set up in the cup. After a week of drying I checked on the paint and I removed a ring of paint form the bottom of the cup and it it like a rubber o-ring. Very flexible.

Later!!

It looks great Anthony, it will really stand out when you put the clear on and bring out the gloss in the white.

The bottom wing panels came out nice.
Now on to 4-5 hrs of masking.

Anthony,

You are far too modest. Saying your cowl and wheel pants look "good" and your bottom wings looking "nice" are two of the biggest understatements I've seen in a long time................... I'm still trying to clean the drool off my keyboard from looking at the pictures. I cannot wait until I see your Waco finished and flying again.

I feel your pain about the PITA that this website is becoming. I could not even get to the website earlier this morning because of a server problem. I have spending allot more time on other websites lately, but it's threads like this one that keep me trying to come back here. If you decide to do your next build on a different site, please let the rest of us know where you go so we can follow along and admire more of your outstanding work.

Now back to masking......................

David

Thanks David,
I do have to say I am suffering from Waco burnout. I am glad I am nearing the end as I have looked at this thing every day since Chritsmas and most weekends were 12-14 hr days. I keep telling myself that eventually I will run out of things to do and it will be ready to fly again.

And you will be rewarded with a plane that you can be proud of after all those long hours. That's why you're the WacoNut!

Well no more painting today,
I had forgotten how much masking is involved with this paint scheme. I have also been fighting a headache all day which isn't helping.

Before I stripped all the old fabric off the tail surfaces I did trace the pattern of the paint scheme. I used this to mark the tail surfaces for masking. With any luck I will be painting tomorrow evening.

Man, this project is certainly labor intensive in all areas. Riveting, sanding, covering, taping, masking.... I'm tired already!

Well the day started out bad, slipped and fell on my sidewalk this morning and cracked my left elbow and the back of my head[:@]

My headache is starting to let up a little but my elbow hurts like #$!! I stayed home from work but I don't know when I am going to feel like getting back on the Waco. Always something!!!

Golly, that really sucks!  Glad to hear the headache is better.  Take it easy and heal up, the Waco will wait.

Get well soon!

Yeah the elbow will be fine.
A buddy at work fell on ice about 3 weeks ago and broke his shoulder in 3 places. A bump on the head and elbow isn't too bad. I may even feel like a little more masking later. If I am better tomorrow I will lay down some paint after work.

Hi Robert,
I just masked a wing panel and it didn't kill me I will spray the masked parts tomorrow and then start masking the fuse, fin and rudder. Then the dreaded sanding starts again before the pinstripe goes down. I will be using a combination of 1/16,1/8, 3/16 and 1/4" Gold pinstripe on the plane. Last time I just used 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 and some of the stripes looked too wide.

Finally got all of my replacement parts in and last wing panel is almost finished. While waiting on parts, I went ahead and built and covered the rudder and vertical fin, have the elevators built, top wing covered, and started on the landing gear. I have to enlarge the opening on the wheel pants for the wheels and they will be ready to install. I also got the fuselage box built.
Anthony, I would like to go ahead and order all of the necessary screws for the hatch, headrest and tail feather fairings, so they will be on hand when I get to that point. Can you tell me what size screws and the amount needed for those areas? I saw it on here but have been able to find it again !! Also, where did you purchase yours? Your progress still amazes me and you are gonna wind up with one beautiful Waco !!
Glad to hear the knot on your noggin's not to bad !!
Scott
