30:1, 32:1, 40:1 there's really not all that much difference in a practical sense.

I just run Red Line 40:1 in everything, never had an oil related issue
BH,

Someone said that Stihl Ultra and Redline are less expensive than BelRay MC1 so they switched. To compare apples and apples, I'm curious how much a 4.5 liter jug of Stihl Ultra and/or Redline cost?

*Edit:* I did a quick search for Redline and found a bunch of different weight oils. They start at 2wt and end at 60wt. Which is the right oil for 2 stroke airplane engines?
Price for a gallon was about 20$ less than a 1.25 gal jug of Belray MC1. Adjusting cost for equal amounts, the difference is around $10. When mixing it at 40:1, that's 40 gallons gas potential which will save about 25 cents a gallon of mix. That's peanuts

Redline two stroke racing oil.

Stihl ultra is good. Tip: go to a motorcycle shop and pick up a little bottle they sell that has lines on it like a measuring cup. It will tell you how much oil, at what ratio, for how many gallons. Works great.
The Stihl ultra comes in little bottles that are designed to be mixed to 2 gallons, but I am not sure what ratio that is. Best to just get that measuring cup from the motorcyle store to be sure.

I have had great luck with the Bel Rey MC1. It is expensive though, and I will be moving to the Stihl oil from now on. Stihl is what is recommended by Valley View for the DLE engines.

Man no wonder I have been having problems, I have been mixing 30 ounces of oil to 1 ounce of gas....

At least things will get cheaper from here on.

Matt,
Redline works fine with Avgas. No worries there. I'm also at 40:1 at this time but planning to go 50:1 with my next batch of fuel.

They need an ap on here that stops any more posts on'' what is the best oil to use threads'' and directs you to the gas engine for newbies thread. I can't believe there are still so many people out here that can't mix 4 oz of ANY good 2 stoke oil found at any # of retailers with 1 gal of gas[img][/img] or follow the instructions that came with the engine.
oh I'm sorry did I ask a question that you have a problem with? Is you feel like you know everything and have no help to offer? So instead of being helpfull you decide to show how much of a ***** you can be? Thanks for your help! Yes I can figure it out with out your smart ass comitys thank you!
Hey Scott, Raptureboy has a point, if you just would have just googled oil/gas ratio, you would have come up with more info you could ever need

Thanks RM612. They claim additional power boost (which I don't need in my app). At some point, I'm gonna have to try it and see for myself how it compares to my current.....

The device mentioned earlier is called a "Ratio Rite". Almost fool proof, and you can get just about any ratio you want, for 1,2 or 3 ( I think) gallons of gas. Best 6 bucks I ever spent when it comes time to mix up another gallon...

ok I just want to keep it simple so I want to ask all of you DLE users whats the best oil to use on a brand new DLE 35RA? I would like something that requires no measuring if possible like something that comes in the tiny bottles that mix to one gallon of gas if possible, also need to know whats the best mix ratio. 30-1 is what im thinking for break in. Thanks.
Well, nobody (I don't think) has attempted to answer his original question. I think Walmart has small one gallon treatment two stroke oil bottles, but who knows what oil it is, and doubtful that it will be to mix your 30:1 ratio. Next best thing I can think of is Pennzoil for Air Cooled Engines, which is sometimes sold in 8 oz. bottles. One of those bottles in TWO gallons of gas would make a 32:1 mixture, which is fine though not exactly what you specified. Also, the Pennzoil is getting hard to find.

People kind of get all bent out of shape about figuring fuel/oil mixtures. It is simple. A gallon of gas is 128 oz., and you simply divide that by your desired ratio to find the amount of oil to use. 128 divided by a ratio of 32 equals 4 oz. - 128 divided by your 30 ratio equals 4.26 oz. (Stick with the 32. It is fine, easy, and your engine will never know the difference.)

Well, I thought popcorn was a prerequisite to use this site......

There really is a huge tendency to "beat subjects to death" in here! I'm probably as guilty as any!

There's an unfortunate tendency to beat things to death. I dont mind answering questions, thats what we are here for right?

I have the two post rule, if you can't make a point in 2 posts its probably falling on deaf ears.

I think what some people fail to realize is that there's more than one way to do something, if you aren't doing things their way that doesn't mean it won't work, keep an open mind and never know what you might learn.

I use Putoline synthetic racing oil in everything: Weed whacker (32cc), chainsaw (50cc), Baja buggy (30.5cc), MVVS 26 gasser, RC-boat (26cc) and my scooter (80cc). 50:1.5 have worked fine for years, could propably cut it down to 50:1 without any risk

As long as you use  "xxxx" oil, all will work. Popcorn oil won't. Too gravy-like at those ratios.

I use the small bottles of Stihl Ultra. The entire bottle is for 50:1. I am a little uncomfortable with 50:1 and also with 32:1 so I do 40:1, just my preference.
I use epoxy mixing cups to measure my oil and dispose of it afterwards. I don't like an oil measuring device that needs cleaning or can accumilate dust and dirt which i don't want into my mix.

My secret has been out-ed.... when I stopped glow, I had to have some scent to replace burning nitro....Orville's was as close as I could get....It *does* kinda varnish up, a little bit, thought.
