Someone said that Stihl Ultra and Redline are less expensive than BelRay MC1 so they switched. To compare apples and apples, I'm curious how much a 4.5 liter jug of Stihl Ultra and/or Redline cost?
*Edit:* I did a quick search for Redline and found a bunch of different weight oils. They start at 2wt and end at 60wt. Which is the right oil for 2 stroke airplane engines?
Price for a gallon was about 20$ less than a 1.25 gal jug of Belray MC1. Adjusting cost for equal amounts, the difference is around $10. When mixing it at 40:1, that's 40 gallons gas potential which will save about 25 cents a gallon of mix. That's peanuts

The Stihl ultra comes in little bottles that are designed to be mixed to 2 gallons, but I am not sure what ratio that is. Best to just get that measuring cup from the motorcyle store to be sure.
I have had great luck with the Bel Rey MC1. It is expensive though, and I will be moving to the Stihl oil from now on. Stihl is what is recommended by Valley View for the DLE engines.

The device mentioned earlier is called a "Ratio Rite". Almost fool proof, and you can get just about any ratio you want, for 1,2 or 3 ( I think) gallons of gas. Best 6 bucks I ever spent when it comes time to mix up another gallon...

People kind of get all bent out of shape about figuring fuel/oil mixtures. It is simple. A gallon of gas is 128 oz., and you simply divide that by your desired ratio to find the amount of oil to use. 128 divided by a ratio of 32 equals 4 oz. - 128 divided by your 30 ratio equals 4.26 oz. (Stick with the 32. It is fine, easy, and your engine will never know the difference.)

I use Putoline synthetic racing oil in everything: Weed whacker (32cc), chainsaw (50cc), Baja buggy (30.5cc), MVVS 26 gasser, RC-boat (26cc) and my scooter (80cc). 50:1.5 have worked fine for years, could propably cut it down to 50:1 without any risk

I use the small bottles of Stihl Ultra. The entire bottle is for 50:1. I am a little uncomfortable with 50:1 and also with 32:1 so I do 40:1, just my preference.
I use epoxy mixing cups to measure my oil and dispose of it afterwards. I don't like an oil measuring device that needs cleaning or can accumilate dust and dirt which i don't want into my mix.
