Totally jealous of you guys and your TF 190's.

Best I can do so far is about AU$1,000 (3 month wait) or $1,200 with a week or two's wait.

Still shopping around, but I won't hold my breath - nothing really ''cheap'' down here... [&:]

BJ
Looking forward to seeing one in Oz if you finally manage to get one BJ.

I am an Anton fan myself, but I have to say with plenty of first hand experience that eventually the Dora's begin to grow on you because let's face it. It's still an Fw-190 and the ESM one is fantastic!

Thanks

dave
I'm doing it the other way around, Dave - got an APS FS400AR radial motor, and now I'm looking for a Bird to put it in.

An FW 190D is an option - but seeing as I have finally bought my first radial engine, a plane that ran radials would be a better fit IMHO.

And I'd rather something non-American - not that there's anything wrong with Yankie planes per se. Just see something else as more appealing to me.

The ESM 80" Lavochkin LA-7 is one option - but I think the cowl is going to be just a frag too tight to plonk the radial into without modding the cowl.

The TopFlite 85" FW 190 looks like just the right machine to drop the ASP 400 into without having to do any mods.

The LA-7 is about half the price of the FW 190 - and they both basically double in price by the time you get them down here in Oz.

And believe me - I've tried to buy both from overseas, and if the shipping doesn't kill you, the fact that virtually no O/S dealer will sell one to you (lest they lose their dealership in doing so) surely will. [&:]

I'll just keep plugging away at trying to get a TF 85" FW 190 - who knows, I might get lucky somewhere

Hmmm.... thats a pretty big pipe.

If you did manage plumb it inside the fuze, I guess you'd have to do a fair bit of heat-proofing so that it doesn't set fire to the fuze and/or the innards or bugger up the electronics etc.

...and I reckon you'd be losing about half your available servo bays etc.. (??)

Not going to happen I'm afraid to tell you. You would have to carve out the floor of the cockpit and get airflow through there to cool the cannister so you'd also have to have exit air somewhere behind the wing out the bottom of the fuselage.

You can get a J'tec in cowl muffler to quiet it down or get an insert to put up the exhaust pipe on a stock muffler.
