Sherman conversions
I have just finished installing the Mato metal suspension to my Mato Sherman. What a great improvement in looks and running! I am wondering if the HL Sherman
welded upper hull will fit the Mato chassis? Has anyone thried this? Also wondering if the Mato 76mm turret will fit the HLupper hull?

RE: Sherman conversions
I haven't tried the different tops on the different chassis, but the HL, mato and Tamiya hulls are all pretty close size wise so with a little work I think the swap would be possible.

RE: Sherman conversions
I have yet to get an HL Sherman, but you can bet when I do I will be checking this out. The Metal suspension is a very worthwhile add. My HL Sherman will be getting it.
As fynsdad said, a Sherman is a Sherman is Sherman. How much difference could there be. Nothing a sharp exacto knife and a sanding block can't cure. The Mato shell fits the Tamiya tub without much trouble.

With the Shermans, you can just about make anything fit with a bit of sheet styrene and trimming. I did 7 IDF Shermans and had very little problems. Mato upper and Tammy lower work well with a bit of tweeking. Haven't tried the HL Sherman yet.

Oh now, but there is. You have mostly so many VVSS variations (that is in the suspension itself) and then there's the HVSS, many different welded hulls and a few cast. Then there is the plethora of so many different turrets that'll make your head spin.
So, set your sights on what version you want and do some homework. Asking questions if you're lost can be handled here.

Yes that was a bit of an overstatement on my part, but you know what I mean. These ones that are being made commerically are all very similair Shermans, and they shouldn't be that far apart when it comes time to swap parts between them

Yeah... that was just a prototype that never saw production. http://www.desura.com/groups/tanks/i...t-and-90mm-gun
Pretty neat build of course but not a Sherman.
