ORIGINAL: Rebel Flyer

I found out the hard way how hard G-10 it to work with. What a B****...
I'm curious too.

Also Tommy, is the plane you're doing going to have a black or yellow anchor on the fuse side?

I have seen dipictions of both.

Kirk
Kirk Not sure yet, need to research that some more.

Do you really think it will have enough power to tow your van?

Half scales can be floaters too.

I have been working on the servo, pushrod, bellcrank system. I still have much to do to complete it. With some supports, soldering, and such left. I really like the carbon rods with the 6/32 titanium ends and dubro swivels. Each servo is 343 oz. with two on the elevator and one for the rudder it should be just fine. I slide a dowel inside the brass tubes for extra support.

I agree, those are great pushrods. That looks like a real solid setup. I would have prolly set the rudder up to pull for left turns. Is the small tube on the last bellcrank photo for anti rotation?

Hey Doc
Yes the small tubes soldered on the large ones stop the bellcrank from movement. Works great! I've been working on it most of the day today, hope to maybe get some more pic's up later.

I finished up my servo drive system. All the cables will exit nicely in there scale locations. I will now remove it all to paint the rear section of fuse so I can cross wire the fuselage then I can go onto the front rounded upper deck and gun area. For some reason I can only post three pic's at a time, the file gets too large?

We have decided not to use the nylon bolts to hold the engine on. Kirk thinks they may not be strong enough

Please explain.

I don't understand. What and where is the stop?

Thanks.

Scuse a knucklehead you are pulling for left, I didn't realize the pic I looked at was of the fuse upside down. It's a small thing anyway but every little bit helps.

I sort of half-get this idea. Pulling on the rod would be a more "positive" action than pushing on one. But why would pull for left be better than pull for right? Does this have to do with engine torque on a large model?

I'm sure it's different in different places but in this area the wind starts blowing from the south in the spring and continues to do so till Nov. Most but not all of the flying sites where Dawn Patrol and Warbird events are held have the flight stations and work sheds and benches located on the West side of the runway so the sun is'nt in your eyes for afternoon flying hence a left hand or anti clockwise pattern, Left turns are much more common, I actually know a few guys that just wont make right hand turns, they botton hook at each end. I'm the complete oddball, Id rather fly from the right though I'm quite comfortable going to the right.

Wow, that never even for a moment occurred to me! With our strip it's about 50/50 which direction the wind's blowing...unless it's blowing in at a 90 degree angle. Also I've consciously tried to rid myself of any tendencies to only do certain maneuvers going in this or that direction. I can't think of anything less scale for a warbird. So I practice doing loops and barrel rolls and wingovers with and against the wind as well as at any angle relative to the flight line.

Fly straight and turn left sounds like something for pylon racers. [X(]

Push, pull, left, right, straight, backwards, sun in the eyes, wind at my back ............... I just fly. Never do I give it any thought. Unfortuntly my elevator has a push for up. No other way to do it. It will work fine. You guys are funny. Besides for those who do know me they know I'm a crazy man when I fly...........

I'm with you Tom, it doesn't really matterwhich way and I was always a member of the morning crew at thte field and having the sun in my eyes was just part of the deal. Oh and I have seen you fly and thought you were rather well behaved.lol
