Default RE: Official Losi Micro SCT Thread

hey guys, perhaps i can get some pointers here. i have the losi micro truggy currently i have the following installed

aluminum one piece motor mount (HR) brand
57 tooth metal spur
10, 11, 12, 13, tooth metal pinions (using the 13 with the 57 currently)
xceleron 7.4volt lipo

i just picked up the losi 2.4ghz radio, and i have the losi 2.4ghz brushless all in one unit on the way. i wanted to run the 10250kv motor with this board, but the board uses the flat plug that looks like the battery plug to connect the brushless motor, and all of the 10250kv brushless motors i have seen have the 3 bullet plugs on them. so is there a 10250kv brushless motor that i can use with the plug on the board, or should i add plugs to either the motor, or the board myself?

also i was wondering what things should i expect ( other than crazy speed) once i make the transition to brushless, such as what parts are commonly broken/stripped, signs of wear, failures etc. i plan to switch to a 3 wire servo also. thanks to this thread i found out that the xceleron lipo is only 15c discharge, so i made a battery plug adapter that lets me use two of my hubsan x4 lipos in it, which gives me the same 7.4volts, but has a 20c discharge rate. only a slight difference in performance from what i have seen.

anyway, thanks for the help guys

I've got a fully loaded performance-wize Micro Baja with Xcelorin 10750 and dual lipos and the works. Even if the lipos are 1-cell and old ones I still get over 20 mins runtimes with full packs. Drive it around 5-10 times per summer.

I suspect there is two different motors, with different plugs... mine has the bullet connectors, but mine is a stand alone ESC

all u can say is watch out running hte 10250kv motor and start with some low gearing, and adjust gearing to temp and initial takeoff speed.

dont even worry about that the discharge rate is... the exceleron only draw 3a continusly and 9a max.... [:'(]

to work out the discharge, devide the mah rating by 1000, then times it by the C rating

im using a 350mah 20c.... that can deliver 7a continuous well above the 3a.

one way to look at is, if i need to move 3 bricks, and my wheelborrow can carry 20 bricks its not going to make it any faster to move the 3 bricks when compared to using a 4 brick wheelborrow

Sorry for the late response im doing a bellcrank conversion on my SCT

Hey hopefully someone can help me haha I have a stock micro sct brushless and the motor keeps coming apart from the circular mount where its glues I tried to super glue it back on and it keeps coming back off and destroying the pinion is this because the heat breaks down the glue or too much power? And I run 2s Lipo through it usually when it happens. if its the glue what would you recommend using to hold it? Sorry if this has already been asked I couldn't find anything on it so I figured I'd ask thanks

Well in the end I ditched the idea. Mainly because the bellcrank was made from 3d plastic printing and I was worried about durability and part availability Down the track.

ive ditched the cheap alloy steering rack and fitted the genuine losi one.... Heaps smoother and stays more straight.
but best of all.... I got some Delrin Steering Tie Rods.... They are awesome, highly reccomend them. They are stronger and have less slop than the stock clear plastic ones. And there is 3 different length for fine tuning the front toe. I went with the 0 ones for now.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you all know there's an indoor track at CJZ Hobby in Brampton Ontario. They will having an 11 race points series starting on Nov/17/13 and the races will be held every two weeks after that. If you're in the area come on by and check it out.

Hi, Thanks.

It is the official Losi Micro SCT track.... Well 2 of them put together. They're kinda like interlocking foam tiles not disimilar to the mini-z RCP track.
The more you have the bigger and more track layouts you can do.

My brother and came up with a similar thing, we took a 2s and split it. It gives a decent runtime of around 10 mins, will last to just past 12 mins but I don't like to push it too hard because of the nature of lipo.

The reason we did this is because I do a lot of charity work, especially for children. It helped us to reduce the wear on the cars. I found the 1s lipo didn't overheat while being charged or discharged and the motor was fairly cool after the 10 mins runtime.

Hi guys,

I tried search a bit in the forum but I could not tell if my SCTE (Micro SCTE - Motor 7915KV) works at 3S without burning something...
My: http://www.losi.com/Products/Default...dID=LOS00001T2
Sorry for English but I am Italian and definitely lose some word

Losi has this battery to catalog: DYNAMITE 11.1V 200mAh 3S 20C LiPo: Micro Rally/SCT
http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=DYNB0002

But the website says it is only optional for the old SCT with brushless motor 8750KV or 10250KV but not for my version with 7915kv ...
http://www.losi.com/Products/Related...rodID=DYNB0002

Has anyone tried the SCTE with 3S? Turnigy, Rhino, Dynamite?

I ask this because today I played for a while in the garden and I saw that the Micro was not going very fast ... At home with 2S is fine, but I would like more sprint away from home (park, garder, dirt)...
I thought of the Life 9,9V but I should buy a charge battery life and battry, so I wondered if my electronic supports 3S to save...

Hopefully I should change engine? To better in the off road is best my 7915 or the 8750KV or 10250KV?
So better more KV or less KV for my Micro in Off road terrain?

Thanks to anyone to help me, be patient if maybe I did not find in the forum 's information but in Italy this model is especially little used...

3 cell will work fine. It doesn't show as an upgrade for your truck because it won't work with the charger that came with it.

I wouldn't change the motor. The 8750 will barely be any change, and the 10250 is much too high. Try your current motor on 3 cells (assuming you have a proper lipo charger) I think that will be plenty...

Higher kv means higher speed, but also shorter runtimes, due to higher amp draw.

okay, perfect, thanks for you report

I have this esc/rx: SPMSR210BL - http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...dId=SPMSR210BL
If you read the spec there is write:
- Brushless: 2S (7.4-volt) to 3S (11.1-volt) LiPo -----> seems that my esc is compatible with the 3s
- Motor Limit: 10250KV @2S and 8750KV@3S ------> motor with less KV are compatible with the lipo 3s
If the lipo 3S is compatible with 8750KV (low kv) is best with my motor 7915kv more low kv

In the box of my LOSI Micro SCTE there was this battery charge. it has the '3S output. Spec: Cells:2s 3s - Charge Rate:2A

http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=DYNC0505
http://www.horizonhobby.com/20w-lipo...arger-dync0505

However I also have a robbe A4 power peak charging up to 4S - 3A

Yea the charger that came with the truck charges at 2 amps, which is fine for the 225mah losi pack, which is rated to charge at up to 15c.
But you don't want to use it on a 3 cell pack (or 2 cell for that matter) unless the pack is rated to handle a 2 amp charge rate, which for a 200 mah pack means it needs to be rated for a 10C charge rate.
Your other charger will charge the 3 cell pack fine though.

For the motor, kv= rpm per volt. So the 10250 kv motor will spin 10250rpm for every volt it is fed, that's already close to 90,000rpm on a fully charged 2 cell, that's pushing the limits of the motors bearings already... bumping to 3 cell would spin it at close to 130,000 rpm, no way it would handle that for long, so its only rated for 2 cell.

Your current motor on 2 cells can hit around 70k rpm, or 100,000rpm on 3 cells, giving you 1/4 to 1/3 more speed.

So in reality, you can either stick with your current motor and go 3 cell packs, or keep your 2 cell packs and upgrade to the 10259kv motor, and either way you get about the same speed... The advantage to sticking with the lower kv motor, is then you have the choice to go a reasonable speed on 2 cells, or an insain speed on 3 cells...

thanks a lot
