....David, I like the thought of annealing it.........my plan is to use a thin material to produce the fillets/farings between thefuselage and wing ......they were thin sheet alum attachedto the fuselage only with slot head wood screws..........they simply restedagainst the center section of the wing...........I know the easiest method is to build them up with some kind of filler.......thats fine, but I want it to really look like a seperate part installed after the paint process has been completed........I use this method on the tail group.........you will have to go back quite a few pages to view this process.......... I will see if I can find the references to this method......

I stopped by RPRCBuilder's today to visit him about his vacation he just returned from. He showed me some great photos of some museum aircraft he saw while gone. Amazing how we aircraft guys always seem to find ourselves around airplanes no matter where we go
I did catch him in his shop laying out some major sections of the wing assembly. This is a very large aircraft, and I know it will present well in flight.
No photo uploads tonight I guess. I will try tomorrow.

Bump Bump. It's been quite for awhile. everyone still here ? I'd hate to lose this thread. I hope all are well.
Went to Joe Nall hopping to see a t-50. Lots of ww2 birds but no t-50.
Has anyone here madiened ? Murphey? Rich?
Rich, I know it's time consuming to post to your level of detail, but just a little update would help keep the fires burning
hope all is well

Murphey here...I've been working on the Song Bird...but not finished. I changed all of the servo leads and am working on replacing the ignition modules. She will fly this summer...we are in the "windy" period this time of the year...and I want to wait until a fairly calm day. Thanks for checking

Guys...I've been finishing up the Songbird! Just finished replacing all of the flat servo leads with twisted leads. Not for RFI issues but for cross-talk issues. When ever the electrically actuated gear would travel up or down, the throttle servo's and aileron servo's would have a case of the jitters...jitters cured! I also replaced the ignition modules. So the throttle servos are mechanically set up exactly the same, kill switch worked, gear goes up and down and ailerons and flaps operate successfully as well! So since everything but the rudder and elevator servos are in the wing...most everything has been "shop tested". Once I revise the rudder and elevator servos, I'll take her out to the field and "wet test everything...motors running, gear up and down, range check...maybe even a high speed taxi...all that stuff. Hopefully everything will go correctly...takes 2 trips to get her out there! Here are 2 photos of the right engine...not quite as busy as Rich's though!

No Rich...that's the grey that the underneath of the original Songbird was painted. Just looks blue in the photo. So I've been told, the bottom was painted grey because the 50's TV cameras couldn't detect the white. There is still differing opinions about the trim colors...red or blue. My sources say red and since there most likely no one around that ever saw the original in person...I'll go with red...besides, I like red better than blue, and it's already painted!

Check out this attached link, this video shows the Songbird as being white with blue trim maybe you've already seen it. Joe

I'm not going to get into that discussion other than to say...have you seen the original TV series and noticed that the trim on the "Songbird" in the YouTube...regardless of the color... is nothing like the plane in the TV series? The photo of the Songbird in flight is a screen capture form one of the actual episodes...I have all of them that are still in existence.

The airplane in that video was not used in the TV series; the colors are erroneous. There were more than one T-50 used in the series, but the "hero" airplane seen in all the flying shots was painted white, gray, and red.

What remains of N67832 (the "hero" airplane seen in all the Sky King flying shots) is reported to be little more than scrap. Its registration expired on March 31 of this year. One of the stand-in airplanes, N4571N (manufacturer's serial number 3305), is owned by Jon Larson Sr. of Auburn, WA (the same person who owns the blue-and-white "Songbird" in the previously posted video), but its condition is unknown.
There was also a third airplane used on the soundstage for entry/exit shots, but its identity is unknown at this point. A fourth airplane may have been kept at the Apple Valley, CA, airport for ground shots, but this is unconfirmed. A fusleage was used for filming cabin shots; its identity is also unknown.
I am compiling histories of every T-50 built for a book, but do not yet have all the FAA registration files, and many T-50 registration files were destroyed in the past, so we may never know the identity of some of the Sky King airplanes. Some may not have been registered.
