T-Bird still reigns supreme IMO! It just works for this shape.. (Needs canopy & markings for full effect though)

This one was requested without markings and the owner is ordering Taylor Made Decals to "scale" it up.
He's also debating the cockpit or tint...its a sports jet, clearly the best in the world...

The new Fly Navy scheme is one for the US market....

This is the first of two "pinkys" to fly this month, soft works for the UF too.

Boy it would be hard to decide between those. All very nice!
Yes the new schemes are very attractive. We are finding a lot of customers flying the pants off their Boomerangs as a first jet are having one of these to add to their sports jet fleet. The plan is usually to move the turbine across but in reality it hardly ever happens. Just in the last week had 2 customers local to me who were going to swap turbines back and forth between their trusty Elan and their new Ultra Flash but when it came to it new turbines had to be ordered for the UF - twice the fun and you can always afford to be much braver with your Boomerang when trying out new stuff. It seems to me once this jet addiction starts there is no stopping it !

As Ive said before I wonder it its possible to have too much fun from this hobby - if it is Im having it !

regards

Colin

I like your thinking. I might get myself a lottery ticket for tomorrow night - 12 million will do me just about right I reckon

Another new scheme on the Ultra Flash for you Fly Navy Boys - price is a little more than the Chequer schemes and the same as the other military camo scheme. First kits are in production at the factory now.

Colin,

Not a bad scheme for a UF. Good colour contrast top/bottom. BUT, why the black canopy frame? Why is it CARF/you go to the effort to design a new scheme and then take, what looks like, short cuts with things like the canopy frame. Paint it blue to match and I think it'll look so much better. Surely you have the ability to ask them to do that?

Rob,

Two reasons really :-

1) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As it happens this scheme is not top of my list but it will appeal to a lot of people for contrast reasons and I can see why. The scheme incorporates the black colour as part of the design and therefore the idea of the black canopy frame "fits". You disagree with that and I'm sure there will be others that feel the same way as you as well as others that think it looks great as designed. To my eye at least, the blue canopy frame would look slightly odd against the black anti glare whereas it blends more with the larger meeting of colours further back.

2) It does make it easier to share parts across models. If you think of the spare part inventory you have to think about to cover every single model in every single colour scheme it adds up to a ridiculous amount. I know because I do it for our own Boomerang models. It can become a logistical nightmare. I think CARF have done a great job with all these new schemes - its no mean feat and I personally don't hold it against them to incorporate the smallest amount of flexibility in part sharing especially when it can justifiably fit the design.

For any customers ordering Ultra Flash packages in this scheme through my company I would have no problem in supplying the canopy frame paint matched to the blue using CARF's original colour at no extra cost or time penalty.

regards

Colin

Actually... Ive just spent 2 minutes Photoshopping this (quite badly!!) but it does actually look really nice with the canopy frame in blue.

I feel another Boomerang Special Edition coming on [8D] - part of the Rob Howarth signature series [8D]

Bob,

Your scheme is lovely as it is - I can send you some Boomerang vinyl cut stickers I am designing to go on the chequer schemes that will bring it to life even more [8D]

No worries, yes picture uploading seems to have ground to a halt on here. I use my own hosting to post images but there are many free photo hosting sites that you can upload your images to and then link to from your post on here. You will see a row of buttons above the box where you write your message - quote, link, colour etc. If you click on the image button it puts the image referencing code into your message and you just copy and paste the link from where your image is hosted. Im making it sound more complicated than it is !
