Default AT6 LIGHTING

Hi

I have a Segaull AT6 Texan that I will be installing lighting in. I purchased the details4scale mini watt plus lighting kit for this bird. Does anybody have any pics of the lights in their wings or the strobe lights lights from this company?

http://details4scale.com/

I have searched online to try to find the light locations on full scale AT6's. The lights on this plane are 2 strobe lights, a set of wing tip lights and inboard wing lights. Does anybody now the exact location for these lights as I would like to make this as scale as possible

I am looking to see if anybody has general pics from this company of their lights mounted for reference ?

Thanks for the help

Hi

Yes you are right the AT6 is the Texan The title of the thread is referring to the "lighting system" for the AT6 warbird, if the people looking in a warbirds section on this site cannot figure it out then sorry. If I could figure out how to change the title of the thread I would do it.

Hi Scott,

Do a Google search for AT-6 "walk around" and you'll find lots of sites or sometimes video of your subject.

A quick search reviled these.

http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/ga...e/at-6d_texan/

This shot in particular shows a rudder light, a light on both sides of the vertical stab, and a light on the rear of the spine of the fuse.... Neat...

As far as colors and strobing or not, I have no real idea.

The Lights on the Vertical Stab would be colored to match the wing tip lights if you follow the set up in the first set of photos...

Hope this helps.

Joe

Follow Up - I found this page that shows what looks like a strobe type bulb on the top of the fuse and two bulbs on the rudder...

Always good to go to the source of why the lights are there:

http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx...102.29&idno=14

Normally the navigation lights; red left wing tip, green right wing tip, white tail on a CIVILIAN airplane do not blink. However, if it still has the military system in the aircraft they may be capable of blinking

Hi

Thanks for the help guys !

Looks like I will have to eliminate the light on the rudder tip since I have no way to run my wires through the hinge line but all the other locations look good.

Hey Scott,

You can do a rudder tip light no problem.

Add a LED to a small piece of plastic tube that has a groove sliced in one end. Wire it all up so that you have extra wire on it that will goo all the way to whatever controller you're using.

Slice the covering carefully on both sides of the rudder where you want to place the light just slightly larger than the tube.

Drill a hole on the bottom of your rudder near the fuse.

Snake the wire through one of your slices in the covering and fish it through the bottom of your rudder.

Now line up the tube so that each side of the sliced tube goes into each side of your rudder. This is a one time assembly, so make sure you cut the slice in the tube deep and wide enough.

Push it all together and route the wire into your fuse through another hole leaving a small u shaped loop. The U shape will allow the wire to give as you use the rudder and not bend sharply.

I've added several tail lights to ARFs already built this way and works great. Sometimes you may have to add a small bit of glue or covering. It's usually so small you never notice or can match it with paint if needed.

My first one of these set up is going on 5 years of flying now and still works great.

Of course if you look at the first walk around I link it doesn't have a rudder light.... Have fun.

Joe
