Nice jet. I owned 2 of them. Simple build. Make sure there is carbon Matte running on bottom and sides of fuse near speedbrakes and north of it if you buy an older model. The new Gen versions come with that Pre-done. Simple build, but all the hatches on the new version are useless and just prone to making structu weaker. Just Hysol'ed mine shut.

Otherwise a real sweet flier. Like a big, visible pattern ship.

Good luck

Shaz

Owned and flew one for a couple of years. Great plane that flew well with very few if any bad habits (minus pilot input). Sold it, but wished I hadn't. [8D]

If you are buying a new one, I'd recommend going with the Skymaster one. The finish and fit is typically a somewhat better, and the landing gear leaves no comparison with the skymaster gear being air over oil, and very nicely machined. I have worked on both FB and SM MB339s .. Im working on a new MB339 from SM currently. With that said, I have had problems with some of the SM parts that had to be replaced by Skymaster .. so take that for what its worth ..

Also, +1 on what Shaz said about not going with all the cut out doors. ...

Either of these will fly great . these big MB339s are truly giant scale pastern planes with super performance. One of my favorite fun jets to fly.

Thanks for all those who gave their feedback which much appreciated.

I am looking at the standard version (AIREX) with no hatches of the FB MB339 with electric retracts and brakes (not hydraulic).
Any experience on the quality of these electric retracts/brakes?

Thanks again,

Best regards,

Hi Dany,

Try air system for now. The electric system still has some issues with the controllers. We are helping the factory to solve these engineering problems with the electric system.

The air system is still more reliable when you put a fail safe system on board.

Mike,

thanks for the feedback! although i would like to go electric, i will surely not venture in a grey area. Any idea when would a fairly reliable controllers be ready?

Isaak,

Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.

Hi Mike
Don't know if you recall that I had contacted you earlier this year (December) about issues I had with the FB controller, your assistance with my issues was much appreciated, since then FB have replaced the motors (new design with capacitor) and a new controller from RC Bee, unfortunately whilst the controller now appears to at least work I am still unable to get the retracts to work as advertised. If you have any information that may assist in getting the dammed things to operate I would appreciate it, my T33 has been sitting ready for the last three months whilst I have been trying (in vain) to get the gear to work?

Regards

Isaac,

Congratulations on your maiden. Appreciate your feedback on the flights and how does the MB339 handle especially on low speed and during landing sequence.

Thanks,

Peter,

Understand your frustration. The good thing is that you have the best possible help that there is (having Mike handling your case) no matter what, he will get through and come up with the correct solution for you.

Best regards,
Dany

Hi Peter,

We discovered that the T-33 electric retract system draws too much power due to its sizes and type of motor used. We had tried several brands of controllers and they just keeps on burning up or not able to work correctly due to problems with varying electric currents. The electric current was used to control on/off of electric motors. These sensors are not able to handle the loads and will trigger a cut-off too early. The current variations depend on the air speed, gear drag, and weight of the retracts. If you dial down the current cut-off, the gear wont retract and will get stuck half way. If you dial up the cut-off current, then components of the controllers might get overloaded and broken down.

For the smaller jets, such as M346 or smaller. The electric version seems to work fine with Robart retracts. I am testing Xicoy's controllers too.

My temporarily solution for my T-33 electric retract system is to put on/off switches on each retracts to control up and down manually. Then I just use the controller for brakes. I don't think the RC BEE controllers can handle retracting and braking at the same time. So My conclusion for the time being is

1. use mechanical on/off switches for controller up/down. put momentary switches on the up and down sides on each retract. (6 switches total), then put a servo to

2. use the included controllers for the brake.

This will get you in the air faster and safer if you decide to go electric now.

Mike

Very nice. She tracks like an arrow.
Do you have any footage of the landing?
