Hello RCMaister

that is a nice fast ARF your Hangar 9 P40B , what engine / esc and prop is your set up.

in the vid you mention its a Scorpion Helicopter motor ,what type and kv.

The plane screams real nice in the vid what i like and on 10 cells it would be a killer.

i am looking for a fast kombo for my hangar 9 sundowner 50 .

sorry that this nice plane is now RIP, hope you did save the rc and engine.

i use always an aditional receiver batterie and no bec at more than 100 amps, had a total los the same way with a 160mph delta.
i dont trust the electronics made in ???

thanks
michael

Hey man. Thanks. Definately learned my lesson on the seperate power solution for the receiver. I'm, currently building a 2nd one and I'm trying it again. The power solution is a Scorpion HK 4025-740 running on 8 cells with a MAS 11 x 10 prop. I'm losing some efficiency with the solution but I'm running this solution on a foam P51 and this plane and it's a solid combo. I usually combine either a 5S and a 3S or 2 x 4 cells in serial for the battieries. I'm running a Turnigy Opto HV 120 for the ESC. It has a builtin spark arrester and seems to perform well. I'm also in the process of replacing all of my connectors with Anderson Power Poles.

Hello RCMaister ,

Thanks for the info on your setup, it will help me alot for the next elektric project, but i want go with a better wing airfoil modell like my sundowner or another formula one model.

i think this setup with a 200 amp controler on 10s will be good for close to 200mph with a sleek airfoil arf..... till it explode in the air .

but thats the goal go fast with an arf and bring it save home.

i found that Scorpion has also the HK-4025 890 with 890 rpm per volt , that is around 32000 rpm on 10s with the right prop it should be 22000 to 24000 static rpm.

here is a pic of my sundowner he is good for 160mph with the 50 west eurotec magnum engine an a reno racing setup muffler .

Michael

Very nice...

That motor combo and your Sundowner will be a monster. I'm only pulling around 100 to 105 amps. You need an HV esc so take a look at the Turnigy Opto. It's a great HV solution for the money. 120 should be plenty. I think on 10S, you might have to go 10 x 10.

The Rally is now listed on RCFlight Deck if anyone would like to register. It will help the event get some freebies if you do.

Here's my primary speed Demon..

DMA Skat
vaccum bagged carbon skinned wing and stabs
Neu 1105/1.5y inrunner, CC35 esc, 45c 3s 1300mah lipoly APC 4.1x4.1 speed 400 prop
spektrum digital servo's.

Not sure on the exact speed, but i'm pretty sure its right around 135-145 in level flight.. probably 150-160 out of a small dive. It looks a heck of allot faster though since its only 30" wingspan. the fuse has since been repainted all silver with a Flour. green tail. 2 1/2 minute flight times make for some short fun flights.. I'm currently working on obtaining all the components for a 260mph F5D racer.

Thanks, its pretty quick. And considering the wing is just under 1/2" thick and the fuse is about 1 1/2" in diameter, it disappears pretty dang fast.

I hear ya!

If you need to make an emergency trip to be with other speed freaks I think June 22 would be a good day for one. I'm about 4.5 hrs south of you.

Yea I was going to go.. problem is, thats the same weekend as my home club's big IMAA event, so i've got to stay and assist with that.. Possibly next year though, as i'll hopefully have the 260mph rocket ready.

Speed Freak Alert!!!
The gathering of fast plane misfits will be this Saturday June 22 in Hudson NC.
If you think it's fast, if it's over powered, if parents pick up their children when you fly it...This is the event for you.

Pilot prizes, speed certificates, food, and an all around good time with people who like fast models!

See you guys on Saturday!

Does converting your bedroom into a hanger full of Formula One Pylon Racers qualify you to join this group? If so I'm in! Lol I'm glad to see that there are other speedfreaks out there! I'm beginning to feel like I am out of place since I don't own a foamie! Anybody else feel the same way? Check out my gallery if you want to see some old school speed planes that are currently flying!
