Well when I do get some spraying done if they won't post here they will be on the other site. I do believe RCU is giving a real effort at not only fixin the site but upgrading it. So hang in there.

Haven't done any painting yet, weather is not cooperating. Thinking of loading up and going 200yds to my Dads shop. I did get the pieces made to hold the sections on a stand a fellow club member gave me. Here is a shot checking how well it works for the wing.

Very clever Robert. Will make painting the wing so much easier! Looks great BTW...I've missed seeing your photos.

Drag that thing the 200yds and start painting

Stands do make things easier. The one I use for my fuselages is a life saver. Most of the finish building and all of the covering and painting took place on the stand.

Later!!

Well according to my Father there is too much stuff in his shop, no room for me. So! I guess I'm gonna break out the visqueen and turn my patio into a booth. Insert deep sigh here!!

I will be building me a new shop some time this year!!! Maybe that will be my next build!

Now that's a great idea Robert, you deserve a new shop one that meets your building needs. If I lived closer I'd come overand give you a hand!

That's ok John, we do have lives.
Everything that had been sprayed with SEP has now been sprayed with sandable primer. I will give it an hour to thoroughly dry and inspect for needed sanding. I doubt it will. I'm not looking for perfection but a realistic finish. Then I will assemble the fuse panel's, belly pan, gear, and the cowl withsome quater inch spacer's. Then start the base spraying.

Looking good!

(Ya know, I used that excuse for my Cub.  I'm not going for the perfect look, I'm going for a realistic look!  )

Well I definately have to give it a wet sanding, not quite smooth enough. The cowl has two minor area's that need cleaned up. And the struts need a lot of work, the wood grain is very visible. I'm thinking of just glassing the struts, we'll see. In the second pic there is a small groove where I placed the black line.

Everything has been wet sanded, reprimed, and wet sanded again. It's ready for the next stage, with exception to the struts. The struts will have to wait until I go out and get some glazing putty. But elsewise it's ready for some colored layers, which will commence in the morning. To warm by noon to spray anymore.

If I could Vincent I'd send you all of it. I decided to sand, reprime, sand, reprime, get the picture, on the struts. They are just about there. I would already be done but I figured while I was at it I would build up around the blind nut's so they would be outta sight. One more sanding and prime, and they should be done.

Well it's a beautiful morning so I got right to it. As you can see in the pic everything has had the next step in the painting process. But, "Houston we have a problem", the fuse is going to have to be stripped and recovered. Somehow I missed seeing that the joint line dead center of the turtle deck is off center, out past the pinking tape. It stick's out like a sore thumb. I will spray this step on the wing's and then take a bit of an aggravation break, then get to recovering the fuse.

I change my mind, I'm not spraying the wing's. Gonna give it a couple days then get back to it.

The fuse has been stripped and currently being resanded, smoothing out the glue joints. And now that it is open I can fix something I did not like. After covering (the first time) the transition of the fin/stab was not real crisp. It will be now. I have to order some more polybrush so I got a week to get the transition area fixed to my likeing and the fusecovered perfectly.

Billy I do not use the polytak. I don't like it's application on this small a scale. I use Sigs stik-it and it is a pain in the arse to remove, it bites really well. After stripping the fuse I went and gave everything a good look over. And, well, I don't know what was wrong with me I do better work than this. Everything has been stripped, EVERYTHING! And will start anew. The only thing I can figure is my back was bothering me more than I thought it was and I knew it was, so. I have placed an order for more covering, tapes, and adhesive ( the polybrush) . I will get it all cleaned up today and ready to go again when the supplies get here.

Lesson here is, "If you don't really feel like working on it, no matter how much you may want to, don't do it"!

Well Robert, speaking for myself, I am proud of you. Others would have left this go and not bothered going through all the time and trouble to make it right. Small price to pay, every time you looked at it it would have bothered you to no end...
