Well darn, I guess no one is using the JL smoke system, so in that case, what smoke oil is being used in the other smoke systems...I have used dry smoke oil in the past and wasn't all that happy with dry smoke but as I said that was in my gas engines... if anyone is using dry smoke oil in your system please let me know how it's doing, maybe the turbine is getting hotter than the gas engines and will smoke better.

Any help guys, I would hate to pay for a load of dry smoke oil and it's not working well in the jet smoke systems

Thanks.

You can use either Diesel or Dri smoke oil. It's cheaper to use Diesel for weekend flying and use the Dei Smoke for jet rallies. Go to our website and see the smoke trails from our T33. That was from Diesel! Bigger bang for the buck.

Does anybody use wing bags for there wings and if so who is making a set to fit them since the winglets make it kinda hard to use standard bags
You can see with Pull-Over in Germany.

http://www.pull-over-products.com/en...odel/index.php

Not Yet JL ViperJet in the catalog, but they have custom service and then add it!

I have the jet legend smoke system and I use form release oil also known as korvis oil. You can check on prices of the form release oil at cement tool suppliers in your area or industrial supply companies. They usually will keep the oil in stock and have it in various size quantities to buy .

Thanks guys, it has been so long since I had a smoke system I forgot how it was spelled, dri or dry, now all I have to do it wait for GJC to get the package to me.....I have been told they (smoke systems) are on back order...If anyone that reads the build and has a JL smoke system and wants to let it go please email me.

Again thanks for the help for the smoke oil....I flew the Viper yesterday in very high and cross wind just to see how it does in that type condition, I was very surprised how well it did, we are lucky to have a very long and wide runway, some jet events don't, reason for the wind test....for the guys that don't fly because of bad wind days, you don't have to worry.

Guys,

What servos operating in 7.4V advise me to equip this Viperjet ?

Is JL Electric brake and retract available ?

Here's my 7.2V setup.

I no longer charge the lipos to 8.4V but keep them at 7V due to RX concerns.

Guys, what length servo arms are you using? I am trying to make sure I have everything ready by the time it gets here. I have some of the blue alum. servo arms for the hitec servos. They worked just fine when there where in my elan, but not sure about this one. The servo hatches look to be very similar to the elans. However, just wondering if I may need longer arms.

I think I used 1 to 1.25 inch all around. You dont need much aileron throw. I went a bit longer (hole out) on the flaps to get the throw. Elevator mae sure you use metal control arm.

The blue metal ones are what I used on the elevator, I purchased dubro thick plastic arms for the rest. The main thing is for the ball links you need some clearance unless you modify the servo covers to let the ball links go inside.

The metal blue arms from hitec (come with the 7955's) are about 3/4" from center of servo spline screw to outer hole. As stated, they worked great on the elan covers (which look similar to the viper covers) but not sure and thought I would ask.

Cool video. Good to hear you found the issue with the elevator setup.

Now that I am thinking I realized I purchased a 1.5" arm for the elevator, and used it at 1.25". I do not think .75" will give you alot of throw unles syou allow the ball links to go inside the servo cover.

We also offer aluminum servo arms for this Viper too. We use these aluminum arms for RTF projects with special request.

Contact Cindy at [email protected] and ask for complete aluminum servo arms for Viper jets.

Any news on the Viper lighting system, I believe I was told the system should be out and on the market by mid April.

Thank you

I used a Hangar 9 Alloy Arm for Futaba and put in on the closest tapped hole to the centre which was enough to clear the plate only just.

I have been reading the thread on the JL Viper and have just received mine from Jeff together with the Merlin 100X to go with it. I asked Jeff about the C of G due to all the talk about it and he suggests 35mm aft of the centre of the wing tube. My wing roots have a C of G mark penned on at the factory of 20mm aft of the centre of the wing tube so are you suggesting a location of 35mm aft of that or as Jeff suggests aft of the centre of the wing tube.
Also exactly what conditions are you measuring at. Fuel load, gear down, location of tanks etc.

Here is a vid I did on the weekend. I tried a really cheap and I mean cheap pair of video camera sunglasses. AS you will see the camera must have been mounted offset to centre and tilted to the right but for $30 I thought it would be a bit of fun.

Be kind, they were cheap!! [8D]
