I would like to purchase genuine A123 2s packs (2300-2500mAH) for my new Bandit MK II. I have had factory built original A123s in the past (2s 1100mAH) with great success. I was wondering what others recommend as far as purchasing built packs from one of the two (hangtimes and electrodynamics) vs purchasing original assembled packs from factory A123. And yes, one can still get original factory assembled A123s (2300mAH).

http://tanicpacks.com/ has always worked great for me, so it could be another option. Also, you can specify any connectors and options on order right from their site.

Both Companies are great, another one to consider which is my source is Wrong Way RC http://www.shop.kavarootusa.com/cate...c?categoryId=2 look at all 3 and buy from the one that offers the packs the cheapest because they are all equal in quality and performance, etc; afterall, they probably all buy the cells from the same source 'A123 Systems'

I've used the Hangtimes A123 packs. I personally think the packs he's developed for use with the Hitec X4 charger (and others) are revolutionary, in a way. Batteries have one 3-wire lead that connects to the super switch. The battery is charged (and balanced) via one three-wire lead plugged into the switch charging jack No more balance plug to mess with. I've found this to be VERY convenient.

These guys sell genuine A123 cells and also sell pre-assembled packs labeled A123 systems. Looks like factory packs to me but who knows in this world what really is. I have bought raw cells from them and they are labeled genuine A123 and perform the same. Last time I ordered I got 16 cells shipped free along with tabs soldered to my requirements. Personally, I prefer this method so I can make up my own packs with whatever length wire, connectors, etc as I like/need.

EDIT: scratch that - I see from their web site u can only get A123 packs and not cells. The cells they sell now are "replacement" [&o]

I just buy a 36v dewalt drill battery pack (10-A123 2300 cells, about $80-90 on ebay), they have spot welded tabs on the cells, and a dremel cutoff wheel easily separates the pack into 5-2s packs. The tabs are easily soldered to as well.

Thanks everyone for your input. Much appreciated. Looks like its a coin toss between the two (Steve or Andy). Now the question is do they make the packs "better" then factory assembled A123? From all my reading sounds like any one of the three will do.

That's what I used to do, but be careful some of the 36v dewalt drill battery packs are no longer fitted with A123 cells.

Also, they have 2500 mah A123 systems cells out.

A123 systems doesn't factory assemble packs for the hobby industry, they sell the cells in bulk. The 3 wire charge harness isn't exactly revolutionary either, I've been getting them from Richard at WrongWay for months for both my personal and review projects.

The factory that makes A123 cells is in Detroit.... Not too far from Electro Dynamics. I believe Andy and the crew have their finger on the pulse of information for these batteries, being so close to the manufacturer. Just my opinion though.

I have used NOBS many times and ED on my Bandit. I like them both, both have great service. I guess it boils down to your decision because neither have a fault!
