Thanks Guys!!!

I have a real soft spot for this plane and paint scheme. It is my favorite scheme for an original Waco. Now if I can just keep it in one piece. Maiden will be in 3-4 weeks.
Later!!

Not perfect-Ha! Your expectations are mighty high. Absolutely a show stoper. Your pilot looks very life like in the photos. Congratulations. Looking forward to the video... Curious, how long does it take to get it set-up and ready to fly at the field, and what does she weigh now?

Hi VJ,
The set-up takes about 20 minutes. I have a Plano divider container with all the nuts/bolts and wrenches just for the Waco. I will find out the weight on Monday when I take it to work to do the balance. We have a large digital scale at the shipping dock.
Later!!

BTW: I did order a 7cyl dummy radial from Fiberglass Specialties. It is a bit on the small side but it's better than not having one in it at all.

Getting ready to take the Waco back apart and put it away in the trailer.
Later!!

Anthony to follow your journey with the Waco build and the rebuild has been amazing.  Thank you for sharing all the details.  It has been invaluable and inspirational.  So happy for your accomplishment.  She looks amazing and I hope you upload the maiden video!

Thanks Michael,
It has been fun but I don't want to have to do it a 3rd time.

I am going to try and have 2 different people shooting video so I can make sure I get some useful footage. The video of my 1st maiden was not very good. The guy tried to stay zoomed in on the plane the whole time.

I have a new engine coming for my 1/3 Cub as the YDA=56 that is in it managed to break a mounting lug. I nosed the Cub over in high grass once and killed the engine and fractured the prop but I wouldn't think that would break the lug off the backplate? So I will replace the engine this week and get it ready for flying. It will see alot of use getting me ready for the Waco.

Later!!

Good plan Anthony!  I believe ALL beautiful airplanes - no matter how detailed - should be flown and viewed against a blue sky with puffy clouds and I know you'll fly her with grace and confidence.  I'm sure you will have many happy landings with your Waco and excited to watch the video!

Congratulations, Anthony !

It's unfortunate that the rebuild was necessary, but the result is an excellent replica of the WACO airframe.

Well done.

Thanks Tom,

I build and detail to suit myself and it is always a bonus when others like it as well.

You know Anthony, if you don't tell anybody that it's not perfect, they'd never know!  That is beautiful!  Congrats on a great rebuild!  I've got to say though, I don't know if I can wait that long to see the re-maiden.  Can't you do it next weekend????

Thanks Guys,

David, No

I won't fly the Waco until I am ready and the conditions are perfect for the maiden. I don't want to have to rebuild it again. That was definetly the most expensive crash I have ever had and I don't want to repeat it.

Believe me I want to see the Waco in the air as bad as anyone.
I will get alot of flying in over the next few weeks and make sure I am up to the task. I will also have a very good pilot standing right next to me just in case my nerves get the best of me.

You got that right, I could have built a couple nice planes for what this one ate in the rebuilld. It is a price you pay for the WOW factor I guess.

I know alot of guys at the field say WOW when I crashed it[]

Exactly! You know I just went through that whole thing with my jug, all the patience and planning payed off, and in the end I had a perfect maiden.

Fly it when YOUR ready, the heck with everybody else!

LOL!  Wow!  That got some good responses!

Anthony, you know I'm just joking with ya, I'll wait as long as it takes, until you are ready.  Don't worry, I agree too, 100%.

TTFN!

Thanks Scott,
I will be watching the thread and helping where I can.

I did the balance check on my Waco today and it came out at 29% MAC with the weight I had in the Waco. I am going to leave it there for the maiden. If I add the dummy radial before the maiden I will subtract the weight of the dummy radial from the weight I have bolted ot the engine box + a couple of ounces.

Now all we are waiting on is the pilot to get enough nerve to "Man Up" and fly the thing.
Later!!

Ok now! If you really want to "Man up", "Man up" and know to take your time getting there. There would be nothing manly about "Crying" because you rushed it.

I'm with Robert.

You'll know when your mind and body are ready. If it's next year, so what ?

Take your time, Anthony.
