Default WOW.... 32+ Tankers from 10 states enjoyed the 10th Aniversary of the AAF Tank Mus. RC Battlefield

All RC tankers wherever you are, are invited to Danville for the AAF Tank Museums 10th Aniversary of the RC battlefield. This will be a huge 3 day event starting Friday morning May 10th and going thru to Sunday afternoon May 12th, 2013.

Whether you were there "way back when...", or are a "Danville regular" (AKA Lifer) or even if you have never been there before... YOU are invited to our 10th Aniversay celebration and battleweekend next month. Your RC tank brothers from NEAD and HEAT will be running this event which is in lieu of the sorely missed Extravaganza. This will be the largest RC tank event at Danville for the year. The November event is the second largest but that is a long way off. So quit putting it off and pull that trigger. Buddy up and drive together in a carpool, fly in, paddle a canoe, take the train, hitch-hike, bum a ride, or parachute in.....just come to the 10 Aniversay and see for yourself all that has been going on there for 10 years. Quit taking it for granted that it will be there forever and take advantage of the fact that the only indoor RC tank battlefield in within your reach. It is well worth the trip.

I am also asking you RCU guys to post some photos of the battlefield thru the years (the older the better) so we can all see the results of the hard work and thousands of dollars in improvements that have contributed to the unending improvement of the battelfield for a decade. Thanks to ALL the volunteers who have given so much to refine it to the finest RC tank battlefield anywhere. Here are some pix of my first Tamiya battletank (A used $500 Tiger I back in 2006) and my laughably bare and barren workbench in 2007.

The Commander's money back guarentee!!!
If any first time tanker at this event can look me in the face and tell me he didn't have the great time at Danville that day...I will personally refund him his admission cost.

I don't know what else I can do to entice you guys to join us other than picking you up at your house....LOL. Although I have picked up tankers at their local hotels who fly to Danville before.

Don't miss out again, Come join us, Bob & Dana

PS WOW, Ironically, this is my 2000th post on RCU. Thanks to all my tank forum buddies for your generous camaraderie and kind words through the years.

I have to agree that this is going to be a big one that you shouldn't miss. I will also stop at the Greensboro airport and pick up tankers that fly in on Friday morning if that will help.

I may not get until Saturday, but I'll be there!

Here some pics from my first event in June, 2011.
June is usually the smallest event of the year.

Photo 1. Marty's Panzer IV in town
Photo 2. My Panther on the bench at home
Photo 3. Dana's Japanese tank (I think he sold it, which happens a lot at the events!)
Photo 4. Colin, Danny, Sean, and Andrew (great family event!)
Photo 5. Will's Panzer IV on the bench (there will be lots of tanks to look at, models and REAL)
Photo 6. Daryl Turner and Doug Gasser inspect Daryl's latest creation
Photo 7. James repairs the Pershing that he lent me, and I broke (Guys are always generous with their time, and sometimes with their tanks!)

Hope we can still make it. A hail storm rolled through here last Wednesday and caused significant damage to anyones house facing East and not have a brick front. It was like being stoned from Heaven as this sounded more like rocks than ice. We have exposed insulation, damaged screens and I can see some shingles missing from our brand new roof. Damn plastic siding.

So... depending on the repair schedule we may have to stick around. I don't know yet.

It even dinged up our 2013 Honda... it can wait but the house cannot. Oh well.

You can do it Mike. Bring more Mid-West tankers with you will ya??? I know there are loads of them in IL, MI and a bunch in Ohio. Come on down with Mike and the trip will go very quickly. Tank talk makes time travel possible. We do it a choir practice ALL TTHE TIME!!!

My sons are camping on the battlefield at Gettysburg that weekend, so I'll have to wait until the summer battleday.

Surprisingly Maus, there is a silver lining to Scot's cloud. Now he can make it to two of the upcoming NEAD events (PA & Danville)....LOL.

Will you be making Danville this time Maus? Come on pal. You promised!!!

Thanks Bob. Does anyone know if IFA's will be allowed? I know I have asked before but will they be allowed to play even if there is only one entered?

Just thinking ahead on how many toys I can take.

I don't see why not, IFA (all been Jagdtigers) have been allowed in the previous events I've attended.

Oh yeah (memory flashes back) they probably don't run Sturmtigers as IFA's like the club I battled with did but none the less... I'll bring it just to have said it was used as I built it back in 2005/2006 and it never saw any action. I never did get those gear downs installed so I hope it passes a speed test? []

Bring the Jagdtigers. We somtimes run and all IFA team as well. I will have my two JTs there and there will be a few Elefants too. IFA tanked teams are easily balanced out but adding a player to the the OPFor or not getting a recovery etc.... As for the Sturmtiger, we can work with almost any Tamiya IR compatable tank. I think that a 8 to 10 minute reload time is realistic for that rocket....how about you?

Sure... but realistically one hit scored on my opponent and he is done for. Right?

I'll see if I can bring it. It still has the old 75MHz 75.730 CH.77 onboard.

A single rocket round could level a building.....LOL. I'm sure in could one shot any tank just as easy. I'd love to see it. That frequency and channel is no problem. Bring any 27 AM, 2.4 of 75 MHz you like but just NO 72 MHz crystals. I can convert a 72 into a 75 MHz at the museum if need be.

Here is a picture of my LVT 4 in the pond at Danville. Not everyone should try this with their tanks.

I am just checking in on flights. How far of a drive is it from Charlotte, NC . Last time I went down I flew into Roanoke, but flying into Charlotte is a lot cheaper.
