mike , i used z-poxy finishing resin . it goes on thin , adds little weight and and nails the sheeting down much better than 3M-77 .

Lookin' great ! on to the dreaded flaps , that will take as much time as building the whole airframe. HA!!! but it'll be worth it.

well i finished the wings today. the flaps were a bit challenging as well as trying to get the ailerons to move free without dragging on the hinge covers . it's a love hate relationship with byron's setup. they look good but require hours of fitting and refitting. i took a few days off to give my brain time to reboot. i'm finally ready to move onto the inner flaps .

ok... i've been dragging my feet a bit on the flaps construction . I've been trying to be very careful as to not mess up any cuts. I'm on the home stretch of getting them done. . right side is pretty much done and i'm doing the left side in the next few coming days. i have changed up the linkage setup a bit. from the instructions i'm looking at ,they pretty much have deleted the rear wing locator dowel . i opted to leave it in place and work around it. i didn't notch the leading edge of flap 3 . instead i'm extending the ball link into the LE of flap 2 and put them end to end . as i get it setup , i'll post some pics.

Lookin good Ron ,
The first time you see her come in on final all dirtied up you'll know it was all worth the work.
NOTHING looks better than a Corsair on final approach.

I got the flaps done yea !! now it's on to the tailwheel doors . i ganged several hinges together to make a scale piano hinge just like the one on the dash 5 in the pic. I use a simple but very effective way of securing the hinges to the doors. i encapsulate them with body filler similar to the way i did the service hatch. there's a benefit to doing that . if for any reason the doors hit the ground or heavy grass they will pop loose from the plane rather than ripping everything apart . that idea saved my yellow spit doors from being ruined.

Today i made some good progress on the tail wheel doors. i used IC 2000 to bond the hinges to the fuse and bondo to bond them to the doors. i drilled two small hinge pin holes in the tail hook notch so i can remove the door hinge pins for service. i'm happy with the way the doors came out . i plan on adding a thin piece of fishing line or similar to the doors and the fuse .. just in case one blows off. it's not like i can run out and buy a new one lol tomorrow i'll fiddle with the door linkage. ... that's always fun

Looks really good !!! I was worried that they would bind due to the curvature of the fuse but , they look very scale . great idea.

is does have some very slight flexing when opened wide due to the curvature of the fuse ,but it's not enough to worry about . they still work good and besides ,there's not that much of a curve at that part of the fuse... it just looks like it.
