That is the one that I installed. I had to cut away the last former and put a new one in further forward to get the tailwheel to fit. Mine works great and yes it did not add a lot of extra weight.

[/quote]

Skillet-
Yeah, I did the same...made a new former a little more forward. That was fun. My tail gear was not assembled straight and I had a heck of a time getting a system where the gear doors would work properly. Took about 3 weeks of trying different setups till I got something to work. For me, one of the best parts of the hobby is getting stuff like this to work properly.

Rcflyinmike-
If I might suggest a flap servo...Power HD 1501MG. I got this servo at ValueHobby.com. It is 236 oz/in of torque on 6 volts for $12.85. This thing is a stump puller for the price.

Now I know what you Guys mean about this Model being a Builders ARF!!
And Thanks for the suggestion Skillet!!
I now have steps 12-16 semi Complete, This is what I have...
I scrapped the ply and screwed the hinges direct, Saved my Corsair 10 Grams!!
in step 12 its not real clear to me what they want in showing the long radius bend in the wire, That would be BAD,
I have a straight wire with a tight bend.
The inboard and the outboard Flap Sectionsreceivethe long ends of the bent wires and the wires are stationary in these sections.
The Center Section is where themagichappens and iscritical, I filed off the Burrs of the factory cut ends of the wires and
lubricated them with Powdered Graphite... SMOOOTH!!
Result? My flaps fallnaturallyto 30 degrees and with very little resistance move all the way down to 70 degrees. most of the
resistance is in the misaligned hinges. Those are TRICKY! If thereperfectlysquare with the TE of the wing they will bind.
They need to be for lack of a better term " averaged out"
I say semi Complete Because now I will take it all back apart, A drop of thin ca in all the screw holes, Tune the Hinges,
Fuel line on the Clevises and then other than paint, Done.

Nope, Don't like looking at the wires, Gotta have the Webs!
Tevans55, Thanks for the heads up on the servo's

Just the "rough-in" Stage of the engine install, The beam motor mount blocked the mixture screws and choke linkage so I went with the Stand off's.
That opened up the Beam mount on the Engine for this...

Hmm, 2.5 deg. right thrust ,ok.  1.5 deg. Down?  Or should I adjust that out?

Don't adjust anything built into the firewall. Both of mine flew great with no adjustments.

All of my ESM planes fly great with the engines mounted straight to the firewall.

RC he just added to what was already there. I can tell ya I have built two of these Corsairs and have a mustang and a FW-190 that all have gas engines. 2 30cc dles for the mustang and FW and a G-38 for the corsair. All of mine fly great. Mounted ll mine straight to the firewall. The only thing I did was strengthen the firewall in the back.

Thanks Skillet,
aghost the firewall is all original my ajustment is in the tapered ply carb spacer that I made according to Syssa's, mounting template.
The 3 leg design makes an easy bind free standoff install.
I'm just trying to make it trackstraight at lift off, by compensating for enginetorque.
I ended up with 2.5 deg. rt. and .5 dn. See how she does.
I tossed the cowl mounting ring.
Too flow restrictive and I couldn't even get just the ring by itself over the engine/muffler.
then I didn't trust what was left afterquarteringit.
I opted for exposed hardware (5 black screw heads) around the cowl with backing inside the fuse.
The spacers are tapered to match the shape of the fuse, and epoxy'd to the cowl.
Should be a strong and high flowing cowlinstallation.

Hey all

I keep looking at some of the pics but I can't tell how the "gear doors"(not true gear doors but the ones that are mounted facing forward on the strut) are mounted. Do most do some custom attachment because I don't have any parts that will attach them that came with my kit. Im to that point in the build, any suggestions.

thanks in advance

Casey

Casey-
I used a flat DuBro nylon hinge to attach the gear door to the leading edge of the wing. I then epoxied a brass tube (1/16" dia. I think), 3 3/8" inches down the door on the back side. You can use wire or a small spring to wrap around strut. This allows the door to ride along the strut while it retracts and rotates. Hope that helps.

Another successful maiden here with a zenoah g26i Started with 12 oz on front of engine on back side of dummy radial but that proved to be nose heavy. A lot if not all down was needed inverted fly great and was even slower on landing than I thought. Needed a ton of right trim flying. Has Anybody else had to put that much right trim in?

Congrats on the successful maiden. Speedpro how much does yours weight if you know? And where is yours balanced? I ask because i am trying to do my maiden one afternoon this week. A local club is having a warbird flyin and i would love to take my corsair. Right now i am right at 19pounds and balanced at 4 1/2 inchs or 115mm. I have a g38 up front and still put some lead up there, but i also have a retractable tailwheel. I am just wondering if i cam move my cg back. I had another one a year ago but because of an engine failure i lost it. This one is set up the same i just am wondering if i coyld make it a little lighter. And i had to add some trim on my first one dont remember how much. Does yours have the high speed corsair waggle?

It's 18 lb. not sure on balance. Used my fingers I thought was 4 1/2 I couldn't get my balancer I use to work because of the bent wing all I know is inverted it took a lot of down to keep level. I have stock tail wheel but full cockpit. On the waggle ill let you know didn't do any high speed runs on first flight

Cool. Yes i could not get my great plane balancer to work for my first one so i built one that i use on my heavier planes. This corsair is the heaviest i have so far and it handles it with no problem. Is the g 26 plenty of power?

Well I had my maiden flight this week and all in all it was rather uneventful except for the snap roll, three spins and recovery about 50 feet from the ground. Luckily I had my good friend John standing beside me because it all lasted about 4 seconds...no time to think just react.

Takeoff was straight down the runway with a gradual climb out to about 200 feet. I made about 5 circuits of the field to trim and then pulled the gear up and trim was perfect. I flew gentle turns and horizontal eights and a few low passes and everything was running great. I decided after about 8 minutes to climb to about 300 feet and set up for landing. I pulled the throttle back about a third, dropped the gear and started to click the flaps down. My flaps are on a left, rear slider and at the fifth click the plane snap rolled inverted and headed straight to the ground in a spin. I pulled the flaps up as my finger was still on the flap slider and countered the spin and pulled back on the elevator as the roll stopped. The plane slowly pulled level and began a slow climb. After I made a lap of the field and started breathing again I pulled the throttle back to just above idle and started to drop the flaps again. The plane slowed nicely as I turned on final I dropped the throttle to idle and made a nice slow landing without a bounce and taxied back to the pit. At that point I looked at John and said it was way to early in the morning for that much adrenalin. It took about an hour before I was ready for the next flights which were uneventful. Conclusion was to much speed and to much flap made the whole system unstable. We checked everything and flaps were matched and working properly with plenty of power on separate channels. Live and learn...

Third photo is post maiden flight!
