Thanks for the info.....my OS Surpass is from the late 90's but its new. I will have to install the rx and batts towards the rear.

After seeing this thread, I really wanted to pick up a Top-Flite P47 ARF and get the parts for this conversion. Unfortunately, when I contacted Tower for the parts, they stated they cannot provide these parts separately from the TF P47 Kit. Bummer... I'd really love to have a P47 .60 razorback...

m3_express, don't tell them it's so you can change the arf plane just tell them you lost the parts from "your kit". The wood parts ran me 14 bucks with shipping and the canopy was 17 with shipping.

Well I was going to keep the stuff for myself but I did place an add in the wanted section for the plans from the kit and a very nice person has told me that he made me a copy of the plans and sent me the wood for the conversion. I will be glad to help out in any way I can, if you pm me with your address once I get the stuff in I will make copys and forward everything I get at no charge like attwooddrow did for me. Also make sure you checkout P47Tbolt's thread to http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10...m.htm#10461839, it is what helped me do my conversion.

no problem, once I get the stuff I'll send it out. I will trace the wood pieces on card stock for you as well that way you can use them for templates to cut your own parts so you don't have to buy the stuff from the hobby stores. I've always believed if you have it and it can help someone share it. I've ran into a few good people like that here on RCU which is refreshing because all the other forums and the world in general people only want money no matter how small or trivial it is.

Nose art: I think I would go with pic 3. She would get lost in the checkerboard on the cowl. Pic 2 looks good, but she would get dirty that close to the cowl flaps. I would think the ground crew would want to keep her looking good.

Quick update guys, she's almost ready for her maiden, I'm just waiting on a nice calm day. My only issue is with the retracts, for some reason I can't get them to go all the way up and they also look like they need to go down or should I say outward (towards the wingtips) more but they wont. Any ideas on how I can get them working. Right now I plan on flying her with them locked down until I can fix them. Here's some pics for ya'll hope ya like...

Warlord i used the 90% extension that it says to use in the manual. The name and part number is OS exhaust manifold inside, LXCA99, i think it was 28 bucks but it's well worth it.

Quick update, I went to maiden her this evening but as normal after checking then double checking once I got to the field she wouldn't stay running. I'm sure its just the glow plug but I didn't take any extra parts with me so I'll have to try again later...

Yes that is Alloy Ash, she is a real down to earth person. When I emailed her to ask for permission to use her pictures for nose art she responded to me within an hour. Over the next couple of days we emailed back and forth and I send her updates and she always responds. I asked her for some pictures like the one from Fast n Loud where she is welding or something like that for my B-17 and she said next time she gets the chance she will do what she can...

Quick update, just ordered a DLE20 from tower, hopefully it will be in Friday so I can get started on it and possibly get her in the air this weekend. Updates as soon as they are available...

I just gave my hobby guy (www.lestershobbies.com) the "list" of parts. He went to greatplanes I beleive, they ordered the parts from topflight and I got my stuff... All in less than 10 days!!

Here is a pic. The pic was taken in poor lighting. I have put this plane on hold until I finish my busa fokker dr1...

All of the detailing was done in acrylic paint and acrylic paint pens. I will be sealing it with klasskote flat clear. I already tested the klasskote and all looks. I was even able to reseal the monokote that has the klasskote on it with the iron at 300 degrees. the klasskote was completely unaffected by the heat!! I'm impressed!!

Update time again. Finally I got my DLE 20 back from the repair shop. I don't know why the engine went through 3 electronic ignitions before being able to run but it's back and this is a video of it as I'm running the first tank of gas through her.

This is my first gas engine so I do not know anything about them. I have a couple questions for those who know gas engines. If you look in the video you will see where I got a decent side shot of the prop spinning but it looks to be pointed up some, is that normal. The engine is on a regular motor mount with nothing to cause it to point up like that, it is attached to stock firewall on the plane. It could also be my mind playing tricks on me as I said I know nothing about gas engines and it could just be because of the planes stance. The only reason I asked about that is because when I start to give the engine gas the faster it goes the tail starts to lift off the ground, I've never had a plane do that before, is that normal with the gas engines?

Nice job on the razorback conversion.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but for those warbird fans hungering for a .60 size razorback P-47 and don't have the time or skills for a conversion, Hangar 9 has come through for you.

Looks like a great looking Thunderbolt with some nice detail improvements ove the previous generation of great H9 warbirds.

Thomas, thanks, I just wish this plane would have been out when I did my conversion. I'm pretty sure that I'll have me one of these H9 by the end of the summer. I like the fact it has all the details on it. I will use the one I have now to get adjusted to switching from 4 stokes to gas plus I'm sure I'll mess it up some how when I try to cover it with the aluminum tape lol...
