Default TOP GUN 2013

Who's coming and what are you bringing?! This is the 25th Anniversary so I am sure there will be some special things going on!

Thanks
Sean

OK, just learned from Frank that there will be a "Rubber-powered model Mass Launch" early Saturday morning. This is a throwback to the days at the POLO fields in Wellington, FL where the Top Gun contestants would try to beat Dave Platt (who always won!) in an endurance flight. Rules are being made up now for this side event and being sent to the competitors, START BUILDING!

This year I am entering a civilian aircraft.
The aircraft is a Ralle Moraine built from the Airworld kit. Still need to complete all the painting and insignia etc.
It has fully working leading edge slats, flaps, smoke and tow release. I intend to do banner towing with it. Lots of work still to be done on the cockpit and canopy tinting.

Intend to test fly it after Christmas

This should be a pretty small thread...how many pilots are actually invited each year?

Who do you have to be friends with to get invited? I have friends who do quite well in US Scalemasters competitions that don't get a Magic ticket

Most of us regular schlubs must wait for magazine coverage to see whats behind the curtain.

Just curious if I should ever hope to attend as a pilot...

You've got to ask for an invite. Send Frank Tiano an e-mail listing a few of your modeling accomplishments..contest placings, etc. A recommendation from well known scale modelers is a plus for an invitation also.
I'd wait until after this year's TopGun contest is over though. Mitch

Hi Hellcat

There are about 100 pilots that are invited in the numerous fields. As stated, you simply need to contact Frank ([email protected]) if you are interested in participating and he will do his best to get you an invite provided you meet some qualifications. To enter the "beginner" class, which is Pro-Am on the Am side you simply need to have some contest experience and a model worthy of Top Gun to qualify provided there is room. The limiting factor in the end is time with all fields full going into the event and only 9 or so hours of flying time each day...

Thanks-
Sean

Ralle Morain almost complete. Just some small detail and need to get the lights working. Just tinted the canopy and it turned out well.

Got several flights completed and a bit more practice this Sunday.

Looks like its going to be a good model

OK SO this is the TOP GUN week ! I will not be able to make it this year. []

Wish everyone attending the best of Luck and want to congratulate Frank on 25 years of total commitment to our hobby !

In my book, Top Gun is the best RC Scale competition out there.

If at all possible, please, keep us posted on all developments during the week.

Want to see some photos of those great models !

Goof Luck to all competitors! .

Frankie Mirandes
