Tamiya KTFull speed backwards!!!
Transmitter question... I am new to Tamiya tanks in general and the system. Only owned the KT for about 8 months now. Got the radio set up like I wanted and it drives incredibly smooth except the frequent track issues. At the time ( didnt take the time to read) I bought the Futaba T6EX radio which unfortunately has digital trim but still the cannon and mg work fine. However when I have to flip the main power for the tank off in order to shut it down. I cant simply flip the controller off or it will slam into full speed reverse until it hits something to stop it. Please help!!! I figure as I am new to this area of tanks that something might not be programmed right. Any input and help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

RE: Tamiya KTFull speed backwards!!!
I have a Futaba 6J and discovered a similar issue today setting up my Tamiya JP.
When I turned off the radio, the tank stayed on and the MG was firing endlessly.
I turn the radio back on and everything goes back to normal.
It took half the day, but discovered the problem is the type of receiver used.
I had been running my Tiger with this same radio and it worked perfectly, but the receiver in the Tiger was from a Futaba 4YF.
The 4YF is FHSS while the 6J works in either FHSS or S-FHSS and the supplied receiver is S-FHSS.
I installed an extra 4YF receiver I had and everything works perfect.
Your radio runs FASST, so I'm guessing it's a similar issue.
TheSpektrums have a similar issue, but there is a work around for that.
I don't know if anyone has figured this one out.

Here's a link to the fix for the Spektrum DX6, don't know if it will work for Futabas.

I guess that's basically the failsafe 'safety' mode, considering these radios are designed for aircraft... if it looses signal it slams the throttle all the way down, in our case, that's full reverse :P

That makes sense.
I have all turret controls on the left stick, so "dropping the throttle" fires my MG.
The 6J does not have failsafe when operating in FHSS mode, so that explains why it works normal with the 4YF receiver.
Good call Strato50.
I'll try and disable the battery failsafe tomorrow and see if that fixes the issue.

Also, for the track coming off.
Do you have an idler upgrade installed?
Henntech, Daryl Turner and Schumo all make one, they put spring tension on the idler and will help keep the tracks on.
I know etoarmour.com carries them all.

It is always good practice to turn off your RC vehicle before turning off your transmitter - this is a throwback to the old days of AM/FM radios where once the transmitter is off, the receiver is free to pick up stray signals and go crazy. Its a good habit to keep!

Today I switched the radio to operate in FHSS mode and now it works correctly with either receiver type.
I thought I had done that yesterday, but I screwed up the operation mode programing...
Now the tank goes to sleep mode and wakes up properly .

My DX5e will always cause my tank to fire when I turn it off, always wondered why but that makes perfect sence!
