Default Hangar 9 60 size P-47

the question i have is.
Can i change the setting on the Motor mounts to keep all of the engine inside the cowl??????? I want to use onboard glow for it so i don't need the head of the engine hanging out

Absolutely....just make certain there is enough exit area of the engine to remain cool.

I know only 2 of you responded to this post but i thought i should update.

Got everything mounted and ready to go. Engine was purring like a kitten. got her off the ground trimmed out was making a scale turn........ then half the Horizontal stab ripped off the plane and spun into the concrete at 3/4 trottle........
from the looks of it the balsa was not strong enough. Snapped right where the Fuse ended. the YS engine, receiver, battery. and half the servos are now gone. I am out almost a grand all together because of Faulty Workmanship.

I mean no disrespect, but that engine is way too big for this airplane. I have a Saito 1.00 on mine and it scoots. Tail mods would be standard with an engine that size, let alone supercharged.

Terribly sorry about your loss, especially the engine.

Firepower,
I thought about that also so i set the end point to only let it go to about 3/4 throttle and i ran a low pitch prop to slow it down. It wasn't going to fast at all and like i said before i was making a scale turn so it had very little pressure on it at all.

the 1 piece of horizontal stab that was still intact ( the part that broke off first ) has very, and i do mean VERY soft balsa for the construction.

All the guys at the field said the same thing ( not a tight turn and i wasn't going fast at all. ) we all agreed that a 2stroke 90 would have been flying it much faster.

it looked like the old surface to air missle videos where just part of the tail gest hit and breaks off then the whole plane just fly's itself apart.

Sorry to hear that. Had a firewall leave the plane too early on one of my sons ARFs once at less than half throttle with an engine that was definitely not overpower for the plane. I know how you feel. Have checked and rechecked all joints on ARFs ever since.

I thought that Hanger 9 was a reasonable product with a good name, is this a problem with this aircraft. Yours Paul T

Have had other Hangar 9s and never had an issue with them. That was the only problem I've had but it was a big one. My sons was the P51 PTS trainer. Have since got it redone but have yet to fly it, needless to say the firewall has been beefed up on this one.

Get the Black Horse P-47. Its cheaper and better built with an aerofoil horizontal stab. Looks mor scale too.
