Super tigre G60 info wanted
I picked up a brand new, NOS, Super Tigre, G60, serie X. Never mounted or run. Even the prop nut is perfect. It is a blue head, ringed. Made in italy. The box is the hues of blue motife. The little Super Tigre plastic bag with the needle valve and muffler adapters/screws it there. The original packing paper is there. The only things that detracts is that the instructions are not present and the box has some light scuffing.
Is this a runner or a collectable? If it has significant value I would sell it to a collector and buy something I might use.
Thanks,
Scot

Someone on this forum has the paperwork for that engine I'm sure. If the OP doesn't get any hits with this thread, try Club Super Tigre thread. There are many people subscribed to that thread.

I thought Hanno switched to Super Tigre with the S-series( in the 80's). In the 70's when the ST X-series and the Bluehead G-60, Hanno was using the Webra Speed#1024.

I think this was the prior X version from Hanno's. Not sure if it was rear exhaust or not, may have been STS porting. I have one with side exhaust and STS porting, flat top piston and hemi head, but the thing doesn't idle that great. I don't think it is marked as anX model.

The "X" is a different engine
If anyone has a bolt-through muffler for the G60 Bluehead they would be willing to part with, please PM me.

I have the G-60 series X ( .60) in both side and rear exhaust versions. I forgot that ST had an X-61 rear exhaust version during the S series of the 1980's.

Maybe pictures will help? My question is whether to "flip" it or not. If it is highly collectable I would hate to throw that profit away or mess up a collectable. I collect other things, pristine mint condition commands premium prices. If I run it the value would be reduced? Anybody hazard to guess at an EBAY value?

I bought one a few years ago, similar to yours, except mine has the natural Aluminum head....got it for $125.00 with no box or instructions.
There has been some increased interest in the older 10cc sized Pattern Ships and engines lately...
Just a WAG but your Blue Head might go for 150 to 175.00? Maybe a bit more...depending on who happens to catch your auction...? If it gets into a bidding war...then who knows!
Some of the guys in the "Classic Pattern" forum might have a bit better idea as to it's value...

Tha last image has indications of the engine being run. The piston should be pristine semi mirror appearance to the skirt. It seems to have the usual vertical "telltale" burnish pattern of an engine which has been run.

I took a look at the pics last night, but didn't blow them up to max size...(until just now )...I agree...it does kinda look like it has been run....the ring and piston have that look about them...
That'll knock the price down somewhat...my above WAG was for un-run...
There is definitely a collector value to these engines, but there don't seem to be as many guys going after the Super Tigre engines, as some of the other makes...
I thought I got a good deal on mine at $125.00...but mine has not been run.
On virtually every new, never been run S.T. engine I have, or I've seen, the ring has had a dark gray, almost black appearance. When run, this wears away, and the ring becomes burnished, and the ring will look very similar in color to the piston...which is what it looks like in your picture...(could be just the lighting and/or camera angle though? )
Even if there are no "wittness marks" from washers or screw heads on the mounting lugs, it might have been run in a clamping style test stand?
They are nice running engines...you would probably enjoy using it yourself...even if it's never been run, I doubt that it'd bring much more than a couple hundred at best? They are rare (everything on epay is "rare" ) but they aren't what you could call "super-rare"...

This is an ST - G60 "bluehead", a cross flow engine with an 8 bolt cylinder head.
Pics show it as given to me, coated in crud. Underneath, it is in good little used condition.
Is there an after market muffler that will bolt up? That is all it needs, as well as a decent prop washer.
