Mikes

Befor I would do any thing I would get some good RPM readings, plus you might jus put a fish scale in your tie down line, and just compare them to one of your other birds it will just give you a referance.

Hope this helps

Well watched the vid and looked ok to me and the speed seemed ok I would still get some good RPM # and use the fish scale

Four bladed model props are not as efficient as two bladed ones as the four bladed ones tend to blank each other out when running. Put an appropriate size two bladed prop on and you'll see the difference when you fly it.

My project is getting close to it being finished. Everything is painted. Yay! I have to stop working on it to get things ready to go to Joe Nall.

Here is a vid of the engine start up.

It's been close to 80F the last 3 days. Supposed to get the same weather you guys are having only warmer and ours is going to be rain. It looks like I have to wait till after I get back from Joe Nall.

hi all, just did a test flight on mine yesterday, I picked it up second hand quite a while back, it had been flown, dinged, flown and dinged again, then rebuilt, it is the ridge back version, power is a G62, with a home made exhaust, rather heavy, bit over 14 kg, tested everything several times, set the CofG as per the book, set the throws as per the book,
the flight went like a charm, the P-47 is a magic bird to fly, even at the weight it was very nice, a circuit or two and it was all trimmed, rolls were very nice, scale, loops were a good size, no bad tendencies at all, a few low passes then test its slow speed, up high, very nice, so wheels down and in for a landing, full flap, keep some power on and it just settled onto the grass, very happy, big grin.
I also have the ESM P-47, it is also very nice to fly, the 47's seem to be one of the nicest models to fly, they land like a trainer, look great in the air, and that 62 with the spring start is a great engine, mag ignition.
Oldtimer.

you will have fun squeezing a da 85 in it. Why such a big engine? these 47s will fly nicely on even a G38! Though most go for a G62 or a DA50 size engine which is more then ample. Are you planning to IMAC it? LOL [:-]

Saw my first DA-86 with a pitts smoke muffler to day and from what I see I would say NO WAY head and corners of the muffler would be in cut outs

Minimal power on G-38...
That is the truth 50cc is plenty of power.
The plane was designed around the lighter weight DA-50 or G-62
Hey any of you fellows in the area of IL. field is 30 minutes from Downtown St Louis Arch.
I'm CD of this Warbird event, Pig roast, pulled pork, no landing fee.

yeah mate I hear you! Though I seem to recall I studied engineering not bloody accounting! Grrrrr

Was hoping to get some sorting out in the workshop but have running about to do sat and mum is coming to visit.

mmmm yes idiots at servos, or as Trudy calls them "Fidiots"!! For our septic friends a servo is a gas station, we call them service stations, why is beyond me as you get no service, they are self service.

Maybe we should call noservos LOL

hi Pete

Well as this geeezer remembers when my dad toke me to the "Service station", they would check the OIL, TIRES, CLEAN the WINDOW and PUMP the gass and all for .10 cent's a gallon or as you fellows put it 3.8 lilers, snd it would be with a smile and a thank you.

How

Hear in fly over land we call them gass stations, you can pay at the pump but I take the time to go in and pay the CLUCK just for the fun of talking to them

Change BA Hum Bug [>:]

Cheers Bob T

While I haven't posted much here on RCU, I will say that I have been a voyeur for over a year. I have been working on my TF GS p-47 now for a few weeks and have decided on using the Zenoah G62 with spring starter and the electric retracts. This thread has been a lot of help and have seen so many nice p-47s, I'm leaving the tarheel theme on the plane for it's first few flights to make sure that everything is all set up the way I'd like it and then she'll be stripped, glassed and flight metaled. I have some questions but will do my research for them first and then ask away!

Hi all

Just a bump to see if you all are still kicking I mean building as I think it is winter in your half of the world, any way would like to her from all of you blooks

Doe to sound problems at our field during our winter I did a bit of research on mufflers. After looking up designe info at the libery and talking to a bunch of muffler msnufactures, for our size engines our best bet is a tuned pipe, next best thing is costun made mufflres with the bigest can that will fit in the spsce allowed and then fill the can with stainiless steel pot scrubbers (NOT PACKED) and this breakes up the sound and can give you a 4 to 8 d/b drop.

Well I am goig to have to close as we are in a massive thunder and lighting storm and the light have been flashing .
