So with the added weight in the nose (12lbs?!!!) have you figured out what the wing loading is on the bird?

If I was closer to Owatonna I would come and watch since I have nothing to do tomorrow....

Don't let the amount of noseweight fool you. It is typical for this bird to take a bit of noseweight. But, with the lightweight ZDZ 80 in the nose, it compounds ths issue. With a heavy Q-100, you would be in the 7-8 pounds of lead range, which is not out of line with a Hellcat of this size. I couldn't find my scale, but I am sure we are under 50 pounds here. Every hellcat I have seen this size is typically in the 42+ pound weight range. Wing loading on a bird this size really means nothing. It is more about volume of lift, of which, this plane has plenty from the looks of it.

Jeff, Tuesday looks like a bust with 20 MPH winds out of the south. I am thinking of heading to OWatonna on Thurday....76 and light winds forecasted. That work for you? I gotta maiden the Stratocruiser as well.

Jeff, thanks for the encouraging words on the considerable "bulk" the prototype grew to....if anyone would have the understanding of what large scale models weigh, and their corresponding flight performance, it would be you old buddy!

I'm free Thursday....love to let the anticipation build....[:@]

Hey guys....is the road still closed to get to the field in Owatonna? Seems like the last time I was down there they took you on a wild goose chase to get there.

All roads are open. You can take 35 to the new 14 and then jump off on Lemond.

I won't make it till after lunch. Got a morning meeting to be at.

"Three Jeffies at the field"...sounds like the name of a Neil Simon play....

Should be a good time, Jeff...and Jeff...and Stevie.....Philly?

Say good buddy....suppose there's any way I can buy a prop from ya? All I've got is this 24/10. It would save me a trip to the hobby shop.[]

One of the Jeffs.

I am sure I have one, but we would need to get it drilled for the ZDZ.

Yeah, appreciate it, but I might just as well run to Tom's. All he has is a 26/10, but that should work. I'll pick one up and drill it for the ZDZ.

I have video of the first flight of the Strato. But I did not get any of my Fokker first flight. It went well also. I have some great video of the Hellcat and LOTS of different people hand flipping the prop.
