I got my TTX 650 this week and have used it on my planes and it worked great & very easy to program (coming from a new flyer I think that says something). I just can't get my j-3 cub esc to engage...but that is another thread... in case anyone has any thoughts:

Where is it documented that this is a full range system?

Finally found that it is on the Tactic web site. Strange that Tower does not make this clear?

There is a post in this forum about 4.8 volt 2.4 transmitters that might help explain the reason why the Tactic 650 system is a full range system. Great question and solid answer.

Note I fly sailplanes with my Tactic 650 system.

If these are truly full-range TX's why doesn't Tactic care about a huge segment of flyers who fly nitro and bigger planes?
Their advertising seems to be entirely limited to electric park flyers. Could this compete directly with Spektrum or similar Tx's? I can understand no one with a 50cc or larger plane would care to trust it to a cheapy like this, but I see big planes flying on cheapish Spektrum radios.

Tower has an offer of two free receivers when you buy the TTX650, just received the email today. Ihave been using my TTX650 for a little over a month now. The only problem Ihave with the radio is the timer function. The first time Iuse the timer for a model, Ihave to flick the switch twice to get the timer to start. I am sure this issue can beresolved with an update to the firmware.Iam really enjoying this radio and all it offers forthe price.

Don't know if you are flying electric? If so you can set it to your throttle. This works great since it starts when you advance throttle so you don't have to worry about using a switch.

I was at an RC exhibition this weekend.   There was a guy there who had a Tactic 650.  He wasn't selling them, it was his.  He also had an Airtronics SD10G and a JR9303.    He spoke very highly of the programming ease of the 650.

I held the radio in my hands.  For me it feels a bit small in the hands.  I did not feel I could get a good grip on it.    He agreed but said he got used to it pretty quickly.   I am sure I could get used to it to if I had one.

The TTX 650:

Maximum peak output power at antenna input terminal: 74.47(mW)
Antenna Gain (typical): 1.2 (dBi)

The problem is that the used ''SLT'' FHSS protocol uses 15ch only.
Can you explain what this post means? I fly sailplanes with my Tactic gear with no issues. Does your post have to do with max users or what? Thank you. Todd

I added some Traction Grip material to the molded grip areas on the transmitter, it gives it a better feel. Plus, now when a tree jumps out in front of me, the transmitter won't slip out of my hands.

That looks really nice, good job. If I may ask how did you do it?

Imade templates of the grip areas and then cut the Traction Grip textured rubber material. After putting thegrip material on,Iused a hair dryer to heat the material a bit so it would follow the contours of the case. It turned out great for my needs. Here is a link to the grip materila.

ETA: Iused the extra large size package of material.

Speaking of the Anylink......I use it on our small stuff therefore the planes are out of sight before we reach the range limit. I am seriously considering the Tactic 650. I also have a 4 ch Tactic 402 SLT tx. It came with a Flyzone micro.......is it a full range Tx?

I bought the 650 for my son and put it in a profile. Then had him fly it in vertical till i could no longer see it and then horizontal same thing. I am sold. That was with the 624 receiver. He loves the radio. They also came out with the 625 receiver that is dual antenna.

It's usually the receiver that determines range. However, since the TTX402 is intended for use with the micro planes, you may want to do a careful range check if you're going to be flying anything larger.
