RE: Radiance F3A - new pattern kit
hi Alex
I see that option , how thick is the sheeting off the fuse?? I know its not supplied with the kit the wing and stab I think 2mm should do the job.
How long engine is the plane designed for it should be pretty easy to modified the engine mount

The flat fuselage sides are covered with 3mm balsa, the curved areas with 2mm. I attached an image from the instructions manual that shows the thickness of the balsa sheets used in different areas.
For the wings you can use 2mm or 2.5mm balsa, depending on the weight and strength of the balsa sheets. Stabs should be ok even with 1.5mm balsa sheeting.
Distance between the front of the cowl and motor box is 80mm, so depending on the length of your motor, you need to use some spacers between the X mount and motor box. For example the Axi 5330 needs 6mm spacers, other motors maybe a little longer. I had 4 different motors installed in my prototype without problems: Scorpion 5525, Infinite 5030, Xpower XC6325 and now the Himax 6330-210, so i think the majority of the current backmounted outrunner motors can be used.

I'm really happy with the Himax 210 too. I had some problems with bad connectors causing some power issues, but it's running fine now.
Tommie has a few Radiance kits in stock, but shipping may take 10-14 working days.

RE: Radiance F3A - new pattern kit
This weekend the V1 Radiance took its first win at a local contest here in Bacau, Romania. The prototype was completed and test flown in 2010, but i wasn't able to practice regularly until august 2011. It now has over 250 flights and i think i got it pretty well trimmed out.
The weather was calm but extremely hot (41°C or 106F) so i was a little concerned about the motor and ESC temperatures. Fortunately the Himax 210 and CC80HV performed flawlessly, allowing me to fly 3 rounds of P13 without any serious mistakes.

Hello Orlando,
Tommie will reply to the questions about shipping, but i can assure you that you will receive the tracking number of the package.
Here are the carbon tubes needed:
Wing tube: PBG 107TS 1" X 30" (tube and socket)
[link]http://www.f3aunlimited.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_31&products_id=578[/link]
Stab tube: PBG 90TS 7/16" x 12" (tube and socket)
[link]http://www.f3aunlimited.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_31&products_id=81[/link]

RE: Radiance F3A - new pattern kit
Hi Orlando
The image from the manual shows you dimensions for the main landing gear.
I just shipped one kit this afternoon and they stated a delivery time of 5 working days, but i cant guarantee it, usually no more than 2weeks.
The price of $550 includes the shipping, you get a tracking number.
Thanks Alex, for the quick reply.
Just to mention that i am on leave from 29Nov-to 13Dec after when i will again be available.
Thanks
Tommie

More progress images from Dragos Enache building the Radiance V4 here in Romania.
Landing gear is too big and will be replaced with one of suitable size.

Hello,
Unfortunately the Hacker Q80 is front mounted and also has a very large diameter, which means it's very difficult (if not impossible) to design a motor box around it that would fit inside the cowl.
I think the Hacker Q60 would work fine though.

Thanks Alex for your reply.
Would you please post a 1 to 1 pdf front elevation of the main fuselage firewall, the motor mount firewall, and a side view of the two firewalls "in place" so I can play with the possibility of using something besides a rear mounted motor.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Radiance F3A - new pattern kit
Dragos finished his Radiance V4 and with only a few trimming flights on the model, took part in our pattern training camp and competition last week.
I tested the model after the contest and i can honestly say it's already flying better than my prototype, so it's nice to see that all the improvements we made for the kit version are really working.
I attached a few images of the finished model; Facebook users can find more high resolution pictures from the event in my album at the following link:
