I built one. Modified it quite a bit---no rubber bands to hold the wing on. Used nylon screws into hardwood blocks in the fuse. Use the standard approach to reinforce the wings. Mine has Irvine .39's. Also installed two Ironbay fuel regulators to control the flow from the tanks which are in the wing root. I can make epoxy or polyester cowls for you since I still have the molds used on mine. Also can vacuum form the cockpit windshield for you since I have that plug too. Flies great----you will be surprised how light weight it is since the fuse is basically a hollow balsa sheet box with a few stringers. How does it fly.....great! Does not like to land since it is a real floater. Takes quite a bit of lead in the nose to balance it. Even so, it is a lot of fun to build. Used F&M Enterprises Stits light for covering and the Polytone system of paints. Email me if you need more info. Regards.

Dead Thread! I don't think so.

Any mention of the Bamboo Bomber, snaps me awake no matter how tired I am! I did spend some time with a 80," Wing Manufacturing Co.. short kit, that is, hunting down the glass parts. I no longer want it. It's to large for my current interest.

Yes, my interest is still there, but for a smaller model.

I do have the plans mentioned above for the Cessna UC-78. I will contact rcalfred. Looks like he's way ahead of us, me anyway, AND will offer assistance with parts.

What a guy! My kind of modeler!

Not positive about this, but I believe my interest would be electric Power.

I have to look for my plans. I hope I can find them.

snortnrun, I have the RCMplans for the UC-78 on the table now myself. I will be converting to electric and am still in the planning phase. For cowls, I've found both Parkflyer Plastics and Fiberglass Specialties have options. I'd be interested in a canopy myself as Idon't know that Iwant to embark on pulling my own.

You mentioned you just ordered the plans. I assume you ordered from RCMPlans? Unfortunately, the owners have fallen WAYbehind on their orders. There are several threads here on RCUas well as on RCGroups about the delays. There are folks with orders back to Oct of last year who haven't received their plans.

snortnrun; do a search for UC-78 plans on Ebay, that is where I got mine and they were the RCM ones. This was selling a lot of plans.

I have the Wing Manufacturing short kit for the UC-78, or Bamboo Bomber.

Full size plans, foam wing cores and fiberglass necelles plus the cowlings. I believe the span is 80".

I've lost interest in the 80" size model.

I would part with this stuff.

Man this post popped up. It's been a while but I have the parts I received from RCAlfred in a box plus two small OS four strokes for it, the project is in the Q but time and earning money has kept my fun down to a dull roar. The plans are available on outerzone for download.

Hey Culver, I keep a subscription to all the threads Ican find on the Bobcat from RCMplans, so it's great to see someone gearing up for a build. I have started a slow build of it myself and am on to sheeting the top of the first wing half. Did RCAlfred seem open to other requests for parts?I don't have a plan yet for a canopy, so if he's willing to pull one, I'd be very interested in getting in touch with him.

Ah, sounds like you collected the parts a while ago? Well, it may be time to learn to pull my own canopy. Thanks for the info.
