Don't know about anyone else, but I hate seeing the nose wheel sticking down in the retracted position, next post I'll show my solution to this.

RE: Modellbau UK Kestrel
Hi everyone, did a post and lost it all, so heres a brief recap,-
Was too busy when I returned home to do much with the Kestrel, but I did run the engine before removing it from the Falcon and checked out everything first. Engine started first time as usual ;-)
- I removed engine and offered it up to the Kestrel. the kestrel has a slanted engine mounting deck at the front end, compared to the falcon. I powerfiled a small semi circle for the intake of the engine to clear in the slanted deck.
- I filed out the hole in rear fuse to allow the starter bullet to pass into the fuse
-I use a large air tank to power the brakes and U/C, so filed out the mounting holes in the fwd bulkheads to accommodate the larger tank
- Fitted the nose leg, I am using my long legs from the Falcon. I found, as on the falcon, the tyre just contacts the fwd frame of the radio tray. I powerfiled half the thickness of the ply away and the tyre just kisses it now, but falls out no problem. I will glue a strenghtener strip on inside.
- The lower side of the fuse has a slight curve in it and it might affect the Up/Down thrust of the engine, so will check when the wings are on.
- I am using my old imitation carbon mounting board for my radio and systems installation. I cut out most of the pre-installed ply radio plate and have fitted most of the systems and wiring into the Kestrel
All in all about 1 evenings work and progressed well. Called away to work, so will have to wait couple of weeks for more updates.
Also I bought heavy duty JR servo arms for my Spektrum servos. I was looking at a new servo for the elevator, (I am going single servo again). The model shop recommended a digital servo, metal gears, twice as fast as a standard servo, low weight, and twice the power of the Spektrum servo, with heavy duty arms. they run on 6 volts, couldn't believe the price, £15.99. cant remember the part number, but got it from Slough Models in Slough, UK. They use them on 90 size helis and say they are an awesome servo
Cheers tim

Sorry to all you guys trying to look at the progress, but having major problems with downloading to RCU seems I have to do this at some ridicules time of night to get RCU to accept the pics.
Pics show the small amount of trimming needed to get the nose wheel to sit low enough not to show above the fus line, my trusty Demel with a Permagrit tapered bit did the work, important to get the taper flat on both sides and to each other to prevent distorting the retracts when screwing them down.

Rudder hinges and horn next, pic shows the roughing up of the horn prior to gluing in place and checking the horn is on the hinge line.
The slots in the boom for the hinges where not in the centre of the rudder post and had to be enlarged to get the rudder in the correct position, the resulting large slot was then narrowed by gluing in a piece of plywood to act as a shim.

Decided to reverse the rigging procedure for the booms and fit the captive nuts on the underside of the wing and the bolts through the booms, also the wing retention bolt will be under the boom at the far end of the spar through the wing, saves all that fiddling about in the fus and grouping under the wing.

Chaps I am afraid a medical problem has prevented me from making any substantial progress on this, I am hoping that I will get the all clear soon to be able to complete the build.

Looking at his post count Old Baldy has made an average of 3 posts a day every day 365 days a year for the last 8.5 years and he thinks Denis is the idiot. Go figure
