Because you use the ABS gun port fairing parts to locate the holes in the leading edge, we will ship them in one piece as shown. These pictures show how we locate and fabricate the gun "barrel" holders for the lights.

The cardboard "barrels" are shipped already shaped to fit each fairing and ready to be glued to the fairings, and the LED installed. After this is done, we pour some epoxy into the unit to prevent vibration from damaging the LED connection. If properly done, these should last the life of the airframe.

More later.

Sure thing Whit. I am in the process of having a new batch made. This time they will be .015 material. should be very good for 100 to 110" versions.

Just picked up one of these. Studying the instructions and developing my game plan. What servos are being used? Im thinking JR 8711s on everything. JR powersafe RX receiver. Planning on minimal scale upgrades to try to keep it as light as possiblee. Comments? Recommendations?

rudder - (1) 8711
elevators - (1) 8711
ailerons - (2) 8711s (and a Smart Fly Equalizer II)
tail wheel steering - (1) 8411, 8611, or 8711 (you want a good metal gear servo here)
flaps - (4) Hitec 5945s (they can be programed) or (4) 8411s and a Smart Fly 3D equalizer (also gives the programing you need to sinc and reverse these four servos)
throttle - any good digital servo
choke - any good digital servo

We use the JR R1221 RX. and (4) satellites, with (2) LiFe 3200 A123 batteries on it. A separate 7.4 LiPo battery is on the electric gear, with another 7.4 LiPo on the electric wing. For our gun system we use 24 AAs (36V). Everything is independent.

I highly recommend the electric gear and wing conversion.

A 50 OZ fuel tank works well for the Moki radials.

What engine are you considering?

Thanks, I'm on the right track with 8711s everywhere and Jr powersafe.rx. I will use matchboxes on flaps. Elev will be split for redunancy with 8711s on both sides. D&L conv ersion on gear. Plug in wings. A123s for power everywhere. If I can swing a Moki 250 I will, if not a DA 120.

Top shelf for sure. One thing. I use the Lipo batteries on the electric gear because it benefits from the extra voltage of the 7.4 LiPo.

Here you go Paul. This is looking straight on the firewall. I had to make a slight adjustment, as you can see. Easy to do. The engine is mounted to the left of center and slightly below, to compensate for the thrust angles. The 250 is very tight in the cowl. Centering the engine at the correct angle is critical.

The three stand-offs are from longest to shortest, A, B, C.

On the engine, the 215 will do well with the lighter plug-in version. Even the 150 has been used if you give her a diet.

Update on my grandson Jackson. His two operations to insert the stainless steel tubes in his legs went well. He goes to water theory every week and he is standing in the water for short periods now. They have him counting to 15 while he stands. He is 2!!!! Pretty good.

Last Monday was national O.I. (Osteogenesis imperfecta) awareness day. He has a rare strain of this "brittle bone". One of only about 20 kids in the world. His parents had a get together at their house for him. Here is a picture with his little O.I. Can shirt on.

He broke his arm again a couple days ago, but these kids heal remarkable fast.

Last week end Jacksy was sitting outside watching his dad and I work on his truck, and he had his wagon turned on it's side as he "worked" on it. He said, "I fixin too PaPa." Melts your heart.

Hope to get him out to the field this year. He loves planes.

He is a joy, most of the time.

He never fails to get me laughing with his antics.

Gotta watch it though. He inherited a very heavy stutter from his dad. Cute now, but it will be frustrating to him later. We had to take his dad to Sylvan to get his fixed. It worked.

Guns installed and ready to 'fire'.

During the finishing process, I cover these fairings with aluminum foil and emboss screws into them, as seen here.

I have the gear in my shop for painting, so I thought I'd post some more pictures of the electric conversion.
Hi Gary, just a quick question re the down-and-locked gear.

I now have mine and was looking at a trial fit in the wing.

Am I correct that you need to bore a hole through the top side of the carbon wing tube, to allow the screw-jack to pass through ?

Thought that you had mentioned this in a thread but can't find it.

Cheers, Steve D

Hi Stan,

I have been messing with the Lado E-doors (most of the evening), and cannot get the stroke right.

When in a position to have the doors open correctly, they will not close fully and vice-versa.

I have noticed from your photos that you have made additional brackets on the doors to get them to fit - did you have to do this to get the sequence correct ??

Also it looks like you drilled through the screwed end of the operating rod, which I guess is to keep the overall length down. I have also done this but no success so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Hi Steve
Sorry for the delay.
To set the E-doors you have to use the 20mm stroke model.
The bottom ( black part ) have to be positioned almost in contact with the extrados of the wing ( 1 or 2 mm of gap ). And then you just have to set the door bracket in the correct opened position of the door.
When the E-door will close the door it will stop when the closed position will be reached ( by current limitation ).
Sure it needs some trials but in my case that works for all 4 doors.
I tried to post detailed pics but .... doesn't works (
Will try again later

Thanks for the reply Stan.

I have the 20mm E-Doors too.
Did you use the horn for the doors which are already fitted by CARF or did you have to make new ones and cut the fitted ones off ?
I just cannot seem to get the doors to fully open in the position you describe, but will have another try

Thanks, Steve D
