RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Hi Gadi,
Yes the cover is removable but is easier to do from inside. Remove the rear case BUT be careful as you take the back off as the RF cable is quite short and can be broken easily. Fold the back to the right, the RF cable is glued into spring twists so you need to clear the glue away and gently pull the cable through to give you maximum to the right. The "module" sits on an interface board, you would need to slacken off the screws to this pcb and lift it up slightly, reach inside and push the module away from the board. Remove the UFL connector, and then remove the "module"" on its carrier. Reach inside and there are 2 clips to the rear cover, ease them away and the cover should pop out.

RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Although there are the standard JR 5 pins showing, the modulation signal is fixed in DSM2 format.
I would need to dig out info to see if the modulation pin can be rerouted to a PPM signal.

cheers Ton
so that will do my life much easier...as Assan have a unit that got a PPM trainer cable allready
the only issue is how to setup the radio to work on PPM and not DMSS and on trainer mode for the specific model?
if that so, wouldnt it be a problem being on trainer mode? would i loose some options that are availble on the DMSS visa vise ?
cheers mate

RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Duh ! Sorry.... misread earlier posts.... thought it was the DSX11.
The XG11 does not have a rear "module", it is fitted on the front half of the set. Not sure if the rear casing is complete or has a removable cover.
I havent got an XG11 to hand to check out the easiest way round this. What you could try is removing the plug in pcb fitted in the front half of the set. This MAY disable the DMSS automatically but I am not certain. Obviously you will lose the Telemetry functions.
Anyway, plugging in the trainer socket and setting the unit to Slave will automatically set the trainer output on and in PPM format.

My Question: Once you do set the XG11 to slave and plug into the Trainer Port....how many channels will it output via PPM? Only the basic four....or will I get all eleven channels?

Yes...well....that's quite the problem, now isn't it?
I DID read the manual, but on this point it is ambiguous at best. Actually, I am teetering on being overly generous by saying that.
Hence, my earlier question.

ok
so i got the following...
the 9303 is a slave with Xg11 as master
the 9303 is converted from FM to 2.4 with Assan module!
all main 4 chanels are working fine but some features arent...such as tri, and engine cut..
i assume it is due to the assan convertion, should be OK with JR to JR..

Gadi...
Many many thanks. However, what I am actually more curious about is using the XG11 with an outboard module. In my case, I'm not planning the Assan module but rather the TSLRS UHF system.
I really do love my XG11 and so I am hoping that it will output PPM for all 11 channels instead of only the basic four. (If it doesn't, I'm going to have to switch to Taranis..but I'd rather not.)
Traditionally, JR has only output basic four PPM. However, as they are pulling out all the stops to promote the XG -series radios and the DMSS format...I am hoping that they've also put extra effort into slave/PPM output as well.

Hi Simon,
What about your Test ?
Have you found complete 11 chanel ?
I really love my XG11 too and I would like to install a second HF module (Jetibox profi) in order to have a redundant transmission with two receiver, using enlink from jeti.
So I'm very intersting on your test
Kind regards
Jacques

Jacques.....
Your XG-11 will pass through all 11 channels when connected via the (phono type plug) trainer port on the back of the transmitter.
The trick to the matter is to NOT turn your XG-11 on. Just plug into the port in back and the radio will turn on by itself....but WILL NOT turn on the 2.4 transmitter section (you'll be able to verify this by the power light on the front. It will light red instead of blue). It will pass all 11 channels of control to whatever external transmitter you have connected....but won't transmit them via 2.4
At any time, if you want to use your XG-11 for 2.4g, simply disconnect the plug from the port and turn the radio on. It will power up.....your light light will be blue...and you are transmitting 2.4g once again. Indeed, I still have one or two aircraft which still have 2.4g receivers as they are not equipped for FPV and I therefore still fly them LOS only. When I fly FPV, I plug into the back...when I want to fly the 2.4 birds...I unplug and everything is great.
Hope this helps.

Btw....my family is originally from Médoc. Good to speak with someone from the area!

Thank you very much Simon,
OK for the 11 chanel via phono plug, but the problem is that 2.4G is stop using plug.
I'm going to test the plug with my JETI BOX PROFI and I'll look how to force the 2,4g.
My wishes to your family from Medoc, nice country, good wine, nice airstrip ...

Yestarday, I tried plugging my jeti box profi to JR XG11 and, nothing work.
The radio turns on automatically when you plug the DSC jack but the PPM signal is not seen by the jetibox.
Don't know why, if somebody have an idea ?
Thank you for your help.
Jacques
